Since I didn't get my car till August my thread was "erased" so I'll start up a new one. I have a decent paying job now so I'll have some money now for new parts and I'll update my thread when I do my upgrades/installs.

    To Do List:

    : New CV Joints.
: New Struts - Probably lower it at the same time.
    : Fix power steering leak.
: New brake pads + rotors
    : New Muffler - Big hole = quite loud/annoying.
: New Transmission - 2nd gear grinds and doesn't shift smoothly into 3rd.
: Fix driver side door lock - Only unlocks from inside.

    Upgrades I Want To Do:

    : New Rims/Tires.
: Repair rust/dents and have car repainted. <-- A must.
    : Window's tinted.
    : Re-paint valve covers - Original gold/red/black. - Other various parts.
: Get rid of factory stereo and put in a new deck + better speakers + amp + sub.
: New exhaust - From the headers to the muffler.

::Drop in a 3S-GTE motor. <-- ABSOLUTE MUST!! If anyone has an extra motor (hehe) or knows where to find a cheap (good condition though) one please let me know.

I have big plans for this car given it will be the car I'll have for a long time unless something bad happens to it.

Here's some new pics. - Yeah I know; the car is quite dirty. It was getting a little cold after I finished putting the left front speaker back in (put new connectors on because it kept cutting out). If a nice day arises before the snow falls I'll wash it and take new pics.

Cool pics, Looks a great base car to begin modding.

I really like that colour too, I think it really suits the car

Ah ok sweet. I'll just continue to post a bunch of pics; when I add stuff that is. :D

Thanks. I think it's a great first car. I am happy with the purchase even though there is a bunch wrong with it.

When I do re-paint it I am either going to paint it white or a dark charcoal (haven't seen that yet). But an engine swap (3S-GTE), will come first before paint.

So I finally got my pod filter that I ordered on Nov.18 via eBay. A mailman never came to my door but rather just left the box in my carport behind my garbage can (not close to my house) so that was weird. I haven't installed it yet because I am going to tremclad the MAF adapter black because I do not like the chrome finish (there is to be no noticeable chrome pieces on my car - just my preference  ). It only cost me $39.xx shipped to my house from the USA and that was with the currency exchange so I got a pretty good deal compared to the other filters on eBay.

Edit: Also I haven't seen an ALL green filter on here before so that was another reason to go with this one.

lol It took some time because: I just got it today, I didn't get up till 1pm, didn't go outside until about 2pm and went shopping. I might put it on tomorrow. It depends on if I get in sandblasted/painted in metal works and have time to get it installed during my school lunch hour; if not, it won't be until next week. Don't worry GT2, I'll get it installed asap because I know how much you like them. ;)

lmfao... i wouldnt say im the biggest fan of them.. if she were mine, id slam that bitch down through the fog light hole in the bumper, and run 3" mandrel to the turbo, (or tb) lol a literal cold air intake lol

Yeah I could do something like that but I'll probably just make a heat shield out of sheet metal and put that around the filter and keep the factory pipe that comes from the front bump to the air box so it still gets some cold(er) air.

you could run piping through the stock breather hole, and mod the inner fender with a feed tube from the front of the car somewhere (bumper, hood is a high pres area = good, fenders are low pres not good for like a scoop or vent or something) and put that filter in the front of the feed tube.. lol i hate the stock location... im all about hiding shit and having people say wtf??? wheres your shit man??? lol

Great idea. lolol the only thing I like to hide is the wiring. You should put your engine in the hatch (dont got a clue on how the heck you would do this) so if people open your hood they will also say "where's your shit" lol.

Hmm maybe I'll give that a try - but maybe in the spring time when it's a bit warmer and when I am not working 5 days a week and going to school 5 days a week.

New deck for my car. I got it on boxing day for $79.99 after a $70 instant saving. I was waiting for a deal like this to buy one and I am glad I jumped on it because listening to the radio SUCKS. So after taxes and shipping it was only $100.79.

I am still going to check out a few more places to see if I can find an adapter for my factory wiring so I don't need to cut it up but if I can't find one can I just use but connectors? Or should I solder them? I have a solder iron and solder but no heat/shrink wrap. Also trying to find an kit that includes a cubby hole to go under the deck.

man walmart has the universal adapter kit its literallly a bag of like 50 parts and you need like 3. but for 10-20 bucks it does the trick, i have 2 or 3 sets of the wire adapters, there not expensive either, when i first started messing with my celi, i would have used the connecters, simply cause there stupid easy, nowadays i would solder and wrap each wire, btw great steal on the deck :p

    Re: Tanner's '86 GT-S [Update - Jan.2]

Hmm I guess I should check out Wal-Mart. It would be so much easier for me to find an adapter lol. Haven't a clue on how to install a deck but I'm going to mess around with it tomorrow and see what I can break or loose...uhh I mean take apart. There was a universal kit probably like the one you said at Canadian Tire; it had a ton of plastic pieces and a cubby hole but the cubby hole was split into two sections - but I'd rather have just one big cubby hole; also it didn't include a wiring adaptor so I said the heck with it. It was $25.

Yeah I think I got a decent deal on my deck. There was also a Sony deck for the same price and same discount but I don't much care for Sony so I went with the JVC. The main reason I went with this deck is because of the front USB. That way I don't have to buy any more wires to hook up my Ipod.

EDIT: haha I could probably buy that 50pc. kit at wal-mart, take those 3pcs. and return it and say those pieces were missing - you can seriously return almost anything at wal-mart, including stuff you didnt even buy there.............

    Re: Tanner's '86 GT-S [Update - Jan.2]

Funny, I bought the Sony and my g/f went with the JVC (same as yours), same price both $79. After looking over both decks more carefully, I kinda regret not going JVC - a little more bang for the buck, I think. How come you don't like Sony?

Wiring is pretty easy, I've wired five ST162's, rebuilding the harnesses after some shops hacked them to pieces. I use OEM connector plugs from junked 162's so I can quickly plug and play different decks. It's a necessity for me b/c I swap between three cars. You could use any generic connector plugs, as long as you don't care if they don't fit into the OEM factory decks.

I posted the wiring colours on the old site, not sure if there's still stickied or not. I'll try to dig up the link for you.

    Re: Tanner's '86 GT-S [Update - Jan.2]

It's not that I don't like the Sony name/brand it self, I just didn't care much for the look of that Sony deck that was also $79.99. Wouldn't really matter if I didn't have the OEM plug anymore because I don't plan on buying a new deck; unless the one I just bought broke or something. But an adapter would be so much easier because the colours would match up. If I can't find a cheap adapter I will just cut into the factory wiring. A link would be awesome so I can see how it would be wired up if I cut off the factory plug.

    Thanks.

Well after I finished the clutch slave cylinder I began to tackle putting my new deck in. I've NEVER installed a deck or have done anything to do with car audio so it was something different but enjoyable (at most times).

Got the adapter for the factory wiring all re-wired:

Dash taken apart - Sure was a PITA to get the centre console out (below ash tray!!):

In the end I am VERY happy that I did it myself instead of paying $70 + tax for FutureShop (example) to do it for me. I did it all in about 5.5hrs - not too bad.
