first main shaft i've sheered. good fun. the solara is a 2 door v6 camry. this is a much beefier trans, a fwd version of yours. and yes didn't even get 1 run in. bitter. oh and had to order a new clutch disk as well.

and new trans is installed. what a PITA. BTW i didn't break the mainshaft. the crappy stamped clutch fork had play and made me think that. what happened was i sheered off an axle in the diff. twisted it in and sheered the bastard off. so either way i needed a trans.

and we also installed the ATS TVIS eliminator spacer. sweet. just a side note, it needs to be modded to fit the GE head.

How much different are the GT-Four Cables to the ones in the normal celica? because i have a set of them, and just seeing that bit about you needing GT-Four cables made me think: 'how much difference is there?'

Was this a result of too much traction?
What's to say it won't happen again with the new box/shaft?

too much traction yes. i know the toyota axles are tempered but i don't think the max power ones are. so i believe the issue lies there. they would be fine for a NA car just not something like mine.

the GT4 cables are different in 1 spot. where they clip to the transmission. the holding bracket. other than that they are exactly the same.

Yeah, the bolt-on cable holder is much thinner?
What about making up 2 nylon/alu collars the width of the alu box holders?
that would save a lot of swapping

Looks like there's a few of us here on a very steep learning curve

also got a little unnerved earlier and spend another 700 bucks. ordered a competition clutch pressure plate to match my new disk, new toyota throw out bearing, new toyota carrier bearing, fidanza light weight flywheel, ect.
so now to wait for parts and make a really hard car to drive even harder!

now i don't know if it's just me but...
i installed the ATS throttle body inlet. and oddly enough the throttle got more responsive. it is a little bit bigger than the 165 inlet but i never would have thought i'd get anything out of it other than some stiffness in the up-pipe. interesting and exciting.
