This my personal bible of the complete buildup for Nemesis. She is named this way because it's taken 5 4th gens to get to this point and she has parts from them all.

    Day0
During this day we simply picked up the new chassis. More like pried it out of the owners hands, lol! Thanks Steve! So $1K later and she is at her new home for the upgrades!
Well here is the new car. It's an 87 GTS pre-facelift. Great shape minus the quaters on both sides. Gotta love 20 year old cars!
Yay rusty fenders, don't care I'm getting new ones anyways.

Car runs great...guess what this motor will go into later...stay tuned, cause I'm thinking of a high rev NOS injected car!

Well today the plan was simply to remove the interior but seeing as we have a lot of help, we went much further. All the interior that was needed to be removed was. Then we removed all the sound matting and the power antenna. Then the side molding and sunroof deflector got pulled. Lots of stereo wiring and such were removed, it actually was a nice hidden setup. We inspected the rust areas and found: both front halfs of the quaters were rusted pretty bad - you can actually get you fingers into the car through them, the floor boards have some minor rust through - the drivers side being the worst and has been plated *doh* before, very minor surface rust in the trunk area, the fenders are trashed on the inside and the frame rails have surface rust behind the fenders - big suprise there.
Yay, here comes the snow! Got about 3 inches in the end.
How does one remove the entire interior in under an hour? Have 5 people doing it.
    Hey look my ass!

Stereo wires everywhere! Won't be needing those anymore.
Here we begin the body lightening process. All sound matting is removed and it comes out to about 40lbs of crap.

When racing you try to improve on aerodynamics as well. The entire black peice under the bumper will be trimmed and then we'll roll the lip under.
For some reason I hate the side molding. Besides I won't be worried about door dings where I plan on being. It also make the installation of the body kit much easier.
And for 2 hours of work the day is done and a lot of weight lost. I wish I had a scale to show what this drops the car down too. On a side note, all 4thgenners check those floor boards. They seem to rot out right above the support runner. Which in this car will be replaced with frame connectors. This car is in overall good shape and should make a very good race car.

We removed the front mudflaps and side coverings. Then followed to remove the grill, front bumper, turn signals, wipers, wiper cowl, and begin the headlight disassembly.

As you can see here, another thing 4th gens are popular for is rust on the rocker panel.

I injured my back really bad at work. I'll be on light duty for a couple months or so and possible have to go see a specialist on thursday. I can't even tie my shoes. So, needless to say, the process on this car will come to a screaming halt. We will try to work on her whenever possible but now I am at the mercy of my team doing all the work. Thankfully I've picked a great group of guys and friends.

    Day3
We removed the headlight assemblies, front fenders, A/C condensor, intake tubing and washer fluid stuff. Idealy I would like to keep this car running for the time being so the motor won't be removed yet. I'm excited that this is happening this fast. My wallet on the other hand is crying! And now my back is screaming at me as well. An inflamed or swollen disk in my lower back that is so bad it popped (very loudly at that) out of place. Great timing on my part right? Well we will see if we can meet all of the deadlines.

Yay body damage, just got to pull the core support back into place.
Look! Yet another common 4th gen problem. Frame rust under the front fender. This one isn't that bad so I won't have to replace the damaged area.
And on the other side...same thing.

Hello, I'm the Mike person that he keeps refering to.

So far this is comin along quite nicely, although I am limited to the amount of time I can bust my knuckles on this project, its good to read some positive feedback.

Just figured I'd drop in and let ya'll know that Willie took a bunch of pics the other night of the stuff that I had removed as of last night, but was so completely stoned on the drugs they got him on that he passed out when we got back to the house. But they are there.

Tonight the fenders come off, well...at least one of them. hopefully both but since its really just me with Willie snapping off pics and rigging up rediculously long extensions on my 3/8s ratchet(the one last night he was using was almost a foot and a half long so he could do the top fender bolts) Its kinda slow going. Gonna be a late start tonight, but should come out nicely if everything keeps going the way it has been.

Today we starting cutting up the body panels. Lots of metal to replace in the rear. We also cut the front bumper to fit the bodykit.

    Day5
We cleaned up the rear quarters and started prepping for the new weld in. We found some more rusted areas and quite a bit of floorboard damage (no suprise there). And who uses a copper patch? The entire front clip was stripped with the exception of the motor and trans which will be gone soon. The ECU and harness are pulled and all the extra metal in the rear is gone. We've got quite a bit of dolly and welding to do later on but that will have to wait a bit. We pulled the doors, trunk seal, liscense plate holder, and lights out today too. I figure all the cutting will be done by the end of next week.

We removed the sunroof, more extra metal, hatch, random motor parts, more interior, and started prepping more rust areas. The hatch is being stripped of everything minus the glass and wing. We removed the drivers wiper completely, I only plan on using one and every little bit helps. We ground up all sorts surface rust and painted on metal prep/converter. We removed the doors panels and the doors are nearly ready for any needed body work. We cleaned up all sorts of areas all over the car.

Well it wound up being a slow day. We cut more areas out and welded more together. We also put down a lot of metal prep on the body. Then, because it needed it, we cleaned the entire shop. Let me tell you, that car with engine and trans in it, weights next to nothing. She is going to fly. The rear suspension has got a 4" gap to the fender.
See how we rolled that lip under after we removed the extra metal?

We pulled out the axles and subframe to prepare for tommorrows motor pull. We unfastened everything under the hood minus the power steering stuff. I did notice something that I did not know until now, the lower control arms are different on the GTS and GT/ST models. GTS' look much lighter and better built. As it turns out they feel heavier but are much better built. We would have done more but the drivers side axle was stuck in the damn trans and took about an hour to beat out.

Well today went great! The motor is out, lots of extra crap removed, the car is rotated and on stands, the exhaust is removed, and CrazyAchmed's 4 wheeler does fun donuts in the snow. I just made an order with Summit Racing that turned out all wrong, so I'm getting a bunch of steel braid instead, sweet!

We removed the complete front suspension and part of the rear. We did some more rust removal and removed more junk. Those old end links are being a total PITA. We are going to have to cut them off. And why in the hell did toyota run the charcoal canister line from the gas tank up the firewall and back down. Mabye for condensation? Or was it for heat? They have got me on that one.
Big f'in hole. And still more rusted areas to remove.

Endlinks done and in detail. I'm sorry my camera gets blurry when too close.
All 4 are done and ready to install.

    Day 12
We removed the gas tank, the rear sway bar. and some more stuff so that I could get everything ready for powdercoating. We finished off the new endlinks and prepped the torque mounts for the new poly inserts. Just to keep in mind as a sdie note; 20 year old hardware doesn't want to come apart at all. 80% of the bolts on the rear suspension are frozen in place! We are going to have to torch all the bushings off, then heat the bolts to get them out. I see hours of joy ahead on them.

I spent the entire day at Phil's shop up here in New Jersey. The whole time i was sandblasting. My god, who would have thought that it would take 6 hours of sandblasting to get halfway done. At any rate, progress is progress and if it's made somewhere I'm happy. We are a little behind schedule in some areas and way ahead in others.

We finally got the damn rear suspension off the car. It's amazing what 1000ft/lbs of torgque will get loose. That and a 3' 1/2" flex head rachet and a 3.5' prybar. MATCO FTW!!! All things aside after days of tearing at it it's finally off. We also cleaned a bunch, cut some more, and metal prepped all over. And found even more parts I want to powdercoat.

    Day 17.

We spent the day working hard and dilligently at our jobs. Then when we got off work. I wish we had pics of the damage. I swear I remember the table being covered in Corona bottles. I know my head tells me I had a couple too many.

Bad Idea for a tues night but we accomplished up. We now have a game plan for the next two days before Willie takes off to NJ again. I think we have offically added another crew member to the team. Hi Jeff!

    Day 18

Finished removing all of the suspension off the car. Down to one bolt last night that we had to cut to get off the car. That was fun. I think I have a dozen hairs missing off my face from using the angle grinder on that puppy. I also removed the two remaining exhaust hangers that are also going with the rest of the mess to NJ again this weekend for Snyder to work his magic with powdercoating.

Decided to go to a fully pinned hood instead of using the hinges and pins. So we marked out where the second set of pins are going on the hood, and drilled the holes and cut the nessary spaces to mount them along with bumpstops.

Jeff was removing the e-brake setup so we could remove the hub assemblies and I was removing that last suspension piece he was going to try to touch up the one quarter panel that is finished. It came out really nice, maybe a couple mins of touch up welding, grinding and it will be finished.

We also removed the horns and the powersteering cooling lines from the front of the car. We are planning on a fun little single horn and a nice ATA cooler for the powersteering that will compliment the engine bay and save space. Oh, and of course we found more freaking rust! When we're done anyone want to spend 20K on this car? We might sell it for that much. And then do it all over!
