    1FSTGTS's Turbo Celica

Well, after turboing my JDM G motor and blowing a piston out of it I decided to go full swap. After months of searching and figuring out where to buy one from, this deal popped up.
I finally have my 2nd Gen 3SGTE with 51k on it. I also got the front and rear strut assemblies which has the good 2 pot calipers. Along with a ST185 rear differential w/axles(whichis for sale) I was suppose to get an GT-Four Transmission but the place that I picked the engine up from messed up and gave me an MR-2 Tranny....oops. I hate when that happens. Hopefully its rebuildable. :D
So anyways...I got this trailer full of stuff off of a guy who was going to pay a shop to do the swap on his 6th gen and then they were jerks kept upping the price on it so he finally had to call it quits and took a huge hit and just sold it on ebay to me for only $920. Plus my gas and food to drive 3 1/2 hours one way to get it. Im missing some stuff, but I have the full harness and ecu plus all the dash wiring. It looks like i just need an ignitor module and probably a few other minor things. But since the guy that had the shop was being a jerk to me from the words "im here to pickup an engine", I figured I would just load up and get outta there.

    Heres the whole load..

And now the swap saga begins...[/img]

Well I got the JDM 3SGTE motor tore down today...Heres some pics.

For only 51k its gotta alot of crap in it.

Here is a REALLY good reason to tear down an engine even if you only plan on doing a swap. Because you dont know where and how long it sat for. I had planned on rebuilding it anyways but this would have been bad if I didnt and just dropped it in.Obviously it got water down in it somehow.

does everyone see the top of the turbo head?
    reason for that coloring:
It's not from lack of oil changes
    It's not from being turbo
It's from pennzoil or quaker state oil. they both are made by the same people and that oil contains a wax in it.
FYI people, every little thing counts.

www.turbochargers.com out of houston did the upgrade. I bought a turbo and it needed rebuilt. If I remember correctly it was a stage one upgrade which ran around $525 total bill. They were good to deal with. When I started burning oil bad I thought I blew a seal in it. So I sent it back and they checked it out and called me to talk over what might be wrong(turned out to be the bad piston). They cleaned it up and sent it back no charge.

Just as an update on the progress I pulled the harness out today and started to compare lengths. Im going to start dismantling the JDM one tomorrow and clean it up and prepare to add some length to it.

    UPDATES!!!!

    First Sponsor! WISECO Pistons!
More to come on that, I get to tour the plant here next week since its only like an hour from my house.

Engine has been delivered to shop.
For anyone who cares to know where http://www.victoryengines.com/
Theyve been around for a long time and very reputable.

    Heres the lowdown.

Block is being punched .020 over. They are working on the deck. Also, something interesting. The crank already has a knife on it from the factory so the are just going to clean it up a little and balance it. Along with balacing(weighing) all the rods and pistons. Ill be picking those up straigt from the factory.

Eagle H Beam rods on order and I got calico bearings sitting here waiting to be dropped off.

Intake being port/polished and with all new ferrea 1mm os valves, springs and retainers.
Probably should have my engine back in about 3 weeks.

Still waiting to hear back from Cometic and Fidanza on sponsorships.... :D

Well got to working on the engine bay and removing stuff. Also started working on the 5th gen harness.

The harness with all the tape and most of the crap removed.

    The pile of crap removed

My old 3SGE which will be a donor harness. There is a definate length difference. I will have to add about 2-3 feet. I will scavange as much wire as I can from my old harness so that I can match wire for wire colors...Im just picky like that.

I also pulled out my AC coils from under the dash and removed the coils.

Now Im another 5 pounds lighter. While you have this box out you can get a good look at your heater core. I will have pics up of that along with my engine bay in a few days.

I dont think so...theres not much left in the compressor housing to take off.

Now Ive gotta save my pennies for all the head work. Ferrea Valves, springs and retainers... Im still debating on whether or not to keep the stock cams.

Well, I finally get to dust of this thread and start making long overdue updates. Picked up my gasket kit from the Cometic Factory today. Very nice complete kit, although they short changed me one valve seal :scratch (but Im quite sure they make it right tomorrow when I call). More parts are arriving tomorrow... so many more pics to follow.
