Here's another update for you all.
I have installed new brass shifter cable bushes from a st185 celica. wasn't too hard to do once i got going,I also extended my o2 sensor wiring ready for the extractors to be installed today.
I ended up getting a parcel from Ant1 with a jdm ecu, 185 single post calipers and a starter motor.
i tried to install the jdm ecu car ran fine but seemed very very underpowered compared to my current ecu and the engine light stayed on.
so switched back until i read more into it.

I also re did my cold air intake and it fits up to the airbox now so no gap for unwanted air to get into.
also have smackdownz bonnet installed to see what is could possibly look like on my car as i was soo looking forward to having it on my car. and moved my numberplate to a diff position (stolen from cuts) lol

it is currently getting extractors installed so will have pics of it later.

regarding your radiator, isn't that the 2S-E rad? center hose?

    looking good !

btw, why do you need another 3S-ge ecu??

I am unsure of what the radiator is as i bought it off a guy from ebay at a radiator store and he told me it was used in the post facelift models as the o2 sensor was in a different spot.
As for the hose thats attached to it it was a spare bottom radiator hose i had as my other one had blown.I have the blue silicone hoses for the st205 models to install next as they both line up.
    Cheers mate,
I got the JDM ecu as i wanted to actually find out if my one was a Jdm one also and see if there was any difference in power.
i got it surprisingly cheap also so that was the only reason i grabbed it.
If i could find out more about on the threads im reading i might even install it into my car as i have always had no egr and a Jdm manifold and less vacuum lines than other celica's over here.

it's basically trial and error as the only thing that happened when the ecu was plugged in was my engine light came on and it seemed a bit sluggish compared to my car with the original ecu.
will get a timing light to see if the timing was different between each ecu as my cars already advanced 14

Also a question i would like to know is why do our cars have an o2 sensor when mine was unplugged for a while and noticed no difference with my car?

My old 3S-GE had no O2 sensor at all ;). It's an early 86 and have no catalyc converter as well. :).

Its a bit confusing as to why though it is there if it in fact does nothing to our cars.

mines an 85 celica with a cat converter and o2 sensor came stNdard with no egr and a jdm manifold. I know everwhere has different laws but its has me stumped why we need an o2 sensor if the cars are still running exactly the same as without one?

I just had my catalyc removed and o2 I do feel more power and noise but no lights came on still the same even the idling as changed a bit nothing major.

Hmm this could be a good thing as it would save me money on o2 sensors over here for the cars especially my spare one i'm fixing up by just deleting the sensor altogether.

Will also be working on both cars this weekend so should be installing the following into this celica
    custom adjustable sway bar linkages
    Braided clutch line
And a new 2nd hand engine mount thats not as badly buggered as the on currently on it.
New gaskets for the dizzy and also rocker covers to stop the only oil leaks in the engine.
And possibly the st205 silicone radiator hoses.

Since having rev_heads new engine installed there has been a lot of difference in torque and power and i absolutely love it i went for a trip to sydney with the wife and took the celica and got 670km out of 3/4 of a tank of fuel ( if any of you guys can convert it to me it's a lot of k's driven for just a small tank)

Nice mods! Have you considered heat wrapping the exhaust manifold?
O2 sensor is indeed related with the catalytic converter, you'll only notice difference if you remove the cc as well. It's for having better emissions. In Europe, models equipped with the cc are rated at 140hp, while the ones without are rated at 150hp.

    Cheers LionTR,
hadn't thought about wrapping exhaust as now i have the vent i think most of the heat will escape through there and most cold air should flow through also. but may consider it at a later time.
Thank you for clarifying the o2 and cat converter dilemma i had.it helped answer why the car still had no difference.over here if a car came with a cat converter you must have one on in order to be able to pass a road worth certificate so removing mine will be a hassle if i get pulled over.

So realistically a JDM ecu isnt worth having for the minimal power gain if you have a cat,o2 sensor? as my car is powerful as it is with the mods and engine rebuild and worked 3sge as it is?

yeh, just worried that your hose is closer to your exhaust manifold than stock. the hose should be over where the yellow sticker is on the electric fan closer to the battery. also the st205 hoses (if they are the ebay one) wouldn't be a direct swap for you as it wouldn't be aligned right.

I was thinking the same thing when i bought the radiator, and it was meant to be a temp until i could afford the right one.
Unfortunately before i had my new engine mounts fixed the o2 sensor never used to touch the overflow hose then i got new one in and it melted through (which i was expecting to do) so now i have the extractors on and it no longer touches and the radiator will have to still be a temp until i can afford my one i want.

Didn't get a chance to check the hoses for the 205 as you are right they are the ones from ebay however they both line up enough with the current radiator and no need for cutting but will see what happens when it comes to crunch time the hoses may have to wait until a new one arrives.

Had a saturday afternoon and night with my wife as the kids grandmother took them for the time and...
i did what any normal married man would do with his wife and no kids around and that is.....get her out working on the cars and learning for the future when i want help lol
she helped me install the under rubbers for the radiator
adjustable swaybar linkages from rev_heads car
new gasket and clean up around the rear rocker cover.

over the next few days i shall try and do the other stuff i wanted to do like the clutch line, dizzy and engine mount then i shouldnt need to touch anything for a while until down the track when i have the rest of the oil cooler and filter relocation kit and new radiator.

beat wrap is better as hot exhaust gasses go quicker and all heat elimination under the hood is worth while. it takes less effort to cool your engine.

    Ah ok cool,
is there any particular brand or type i should look out for? as i don't want something that will stuff up on me with melting stuff.
cheers for the help and info on heat wrapping i haven't seen many cars with it and never understood it.

Also what is everyones idea of my car becoming 2 tone? as i have ssv side skirts rear bar in black and the gt4 front bar in red but am considering getting it sprayed black and leaving the whole car maroon aside from those parts and bonnet?

or i will just get everything done same colour as car.

side skirts as black, front gt4 bumper in same color as car except for the black strip to match with the lines going around the car?

    Cheers mate,
would i also leave the rear bar in black or do the same as the 165 from bar with the colour of the car and black strip?

also with the side skirts i dont have the door card pieces of the ssv kit which means my doors will be all maroon with the black strips leave that as is?
a part of me says yes because it's ess panda looking to an ae86 lol

Also having gearbox problems lately with it popping out of gear when coasting.
had been reading up on it and in the haynes manual it says to check the adjustment on the shifter cables and diagnose with tightening them off 1st and sorting it out that way.
