I applaud your work, too much paint for my taste but it's not my car.
Here's my mates car waiting in pit lane complete with Bridgestone rims, Toyo 888's etc so you can get a "feel" for the end result

I like were you are going, but agree that for my taste the colourscheme under the hood is just a bit too much.

I love your work, looks amazing!

Just a question though, do you sand after every coat of paint/primer? I imagine it'd get a bit ridiculous getting to all those nooks and crannies!

too much red under the hood IMO, but my god you do some fab work

The red block isn't my taste too, but everything else is amazing!

Primer is sanded down flat then the Polyester paint, just lacquer on top of that and rub that down and polish up to shine. Takes time either way!

As for the red engine, reserve judgement till everything is in place! Remember there is a lot more to go under the bonnet yet to break it up. Anyway I like it thats what counts :p

No, no, no. You're doing this to appease us. Now off you go to remove the red. Chop, chop!

The problem I have is with the paint itself, it looks great now but in a year or two....

I will re paint it :)

I know what you mean, it can be as high temperature as it likes but is still susceptible to the build up of shite etc. Its the risks you take, but who know may be sold off before she need a touch up.

You obviously have a long term goal with an end vision.

When I worked for Ford, they're paint dip was thick like tar and some parts got 2 coats.

Don't repaint anything.......... I like the colours and it's not that hard to keep an engine clean long term......... especially if ALL seals are tight.

I'll assume you have access to a car hoist for regular inspection and maintenance and cleaning :cheers

Once again, I like your attention to detail........... this is great work and very inspiring and now pissed off that I did'nt take engineering as a young fella :lol :cheers

1st I can't believe someone would go to all this effort and then want to sell it

    2nd I read somewhere you used 185 brakes & hubs? - how?
I bought 185 brakes & hubs and when I fitted them I found the balljoint pins are bigger on the 185 and the footprint is bigger as well
which means they can't be swapped other than changing the A-arm as well but the A-arm size may be different too

I like the powder coating better, you can spill oil, brake fluid etc on it and it wipes right off without stains and takes far longer to go dull
I see you can buy home kits for it now too but you still need to find a large oven

Ok guys get ready for a big update here not forgotten about you, just finding time. So apologies for the copy and paste off CCUK

Little of nothing done today the weather has been dire, so much for summer this year!
Set about piecing the interior back together with a bit of sound deadening, and the big job of fitting the fuel flap.

About time I put a few more pictures up, been mad busy at work so done less than ever. Cleaned up most of the heater, blower and AC and refitted along with the wiring loom. Also started attaching the engine loom.

Tried to make up for having the day at JAE yesterday, but couldnt seem to get much headway. By the time I had cleaned up the parts and painted them its getting dark. Also got out the dash and had a ponder of what to do where the vinyl has lifted, yeah didnt get anywhere with that either

So tonight and last I actually managed to get the master cylinder in. I totally forgot to put this in before the engine went in and what a twat it was...... Ill remember next time!

And have got the steering column into place, makes it look so mess now.

Slowly piecing the jigsaw back together, a few bits are getting thrown on for now like the turbo, cat and heat shield just to try and remember whats what
With any luck we should have a tune in a couple of weeks, going to have time off work to try and break the back of it.
