looks freakin' sweet with the car on jacks and the exhaust pic no wonder its loud. :D

I like the part list too. The brake system is gonna be awesome. Get the stainless steel brake
lines, they will give you a more direct feel.

Thanks for the comments. Yeah rocket I was going to get stainless steel brake lines but forgot them. Not a big deal because I can always add them at anytime. I'll most likely wait until I get new springs (lowering) and struts.

The rotors came out awesome painted but it's just keeps damn well raining off and on so the calipers are never going to get done. The weather doesn't want me to drive my Celica, I SWEAR.

    Cheers for now!

We should start a parts thread somewhere listing cool parts like that with pic, p/n, price, addresses etc
    - would save a lot of hassle fiding parts and endorse good products, slam crap ones?

I'd really like to know prices on that stuff, some parts are not as expensive as we think and maybe
encourage guys to replace parts instead of scrapping cars

Nice collection of parts. I didn't notice the seal kits for the wheel bearings, don't forget those!
Also, are you switching from regular dino juice to synthetic? It may cause more leaks on an older engine. I used a semi-synthetic blend and that happened to me so I went back to regular oil. Keep an eye on it if you do.

Hmm, well it was around 2:30am when I posted those pictures and right up and was dizzy after all those paint fumes so I guess I forgot to post the prices; that's my excuse anyway!

    1. Wheel Bearings: $207.53 - Got them for $161.26

    2. Power Steering Hose: $165.23 - Got it for $99.76

    3. CV Joints: $366.87 - Got them for $299.25

    4. Front Calipers: $199.12 - Got them for $148.46

    5. Rear Calipers: $270.00 - Got them for $235.00 (Not sure if this is exactly right; misplaced the receipt  )

    6. Rotors + Pads: Bought online for $250 shipped.

    7. OEM Oil Filter: $9.00 exactly from Toyota.

    8. Mobil 1 Oil: $46.78

Total (not exact): $1249.51 - Not including taxes though.

You're all probably wondering about the "Got them/it for" price and it's because I ordered these parts through a local shop. My Mom use to take her vehicle(s) there for any kind of repairs and since we did not have very much money growing up he would give my Mom deals and find parts for her at a cheaper price. He's an amazing guy. Even though my Mom has passed, he still gives me deals on parts which I am very grateful for.

Rick: I've been using that Castrol GTX and Full Synthetic oil since I got it and now have decided to switch to a better oil (imo). It's what Toyota uses so I'd like to use what they use. I have also been using the highest octane I can get for my car; most time it's 91 unless I go out of my way to get 94 which I sometimes do (most think it's pointless but I like to give the best for my engine, even though it's soon to be swapped out). I haven't noticed any "oil" leaks. Though, I wouldn't really notice any leaks given my power steering leak is quite severe. Once I get that fixed I'll be able to see if any oil is leaking.

Yeah so since most of these parts I got ordered in, it doesn't help to make a list of where to get them. So I am no help  .

I'll update the prices tomorrow and also add pictures of the painted rotors (they're done) and the calipers (if it doesn't rain again). Oh and yeah, I'll look into those Wheel Bearing seals Rick, didn't know about those. Thanks for the heads up.

Cheers for now guys! Thanks for the comments!

    -Tanner.

^Yeah, when you remove the wheel bearings, you'll need to replace the seals too. They aren't that expensive, about $20 each side. I'll see if I can find a pic for you.

BTW, isn't there a Lordco, NAPA or Canadian Tire in your city?

Just a bit surpised on the CV axle price - it's a bit high. I just did the driver's CV axle and it was $113 with taxes IN from Lordco.

Here's a pic of the seals. You need one seal kit for each axle.
The seal kit is necessary and costs about $15 from Toyota. Oddly enough, the OEM one is cheaper than aftermarket, strange but true where I live.

Ah, nice...I'll be going to Toyota this week then and I'll see how much it is there.

Yeah that's weird on the axle prices because when I went there a couple months ago the driver side axle (I believe) was $16x.xx before taxes and the passenger side was more. That's why I decided not to get them.

    For the axles:

    Driver Side: $129.96
    Passenger Side: $169.29

Not too bad, considering the prices I got from Lordco. I know for a fact they were more but not exactly sure by how much though.

    Thanks for the help Rick,

    -Tanner.

    Re: Tanner's '86 GT-S [Update - Sept.5.09] - 56k Beware!

    Little Update:

Last week I finally got the new calipers & Rotors painted and installed and its amazing to actually have brakes that work like they're suppose too  . After I got the brakes fixed I got my catalytic converter removed and had a new pipe welded on so the exhaust gases don't blow on the control arm like it was; it's damn loud now.

I also ordered a pos fart can off eBay last week so I wouldn't get hassled by the damn police for not having a muffler. The muffler was only $10.80 so what the hell; it'll do until I get my custom exhaust done with a HKS muffler. Though that'll be after the new engines in (when ever that gets done; hopefully by spring; will work on it over the winter).

I'll make a new update when I get the new muffler, axles, wheel bearings and power steering hose installed. Which reminds me, Rick I went to Toyota today for the wheel bearing kits and for each side it was $28.xx so I ordered one for each side; said to be in on Wednesday.

i lol'd at the pic of the pipe just stopping dead lol. Sounds tough but. Keep the updates flowing man, loving it :)

Forgot to mention that once the power steering is fixed I'll be cleaning up the engine bay and painting a bunch more things and relocated some things so I'll keep everyone posted when that's done.

Yeah it's a shame the rims hide all my hard work but eventually I'll have nicer rims that'll show off the calipers/rotors.

lol, yeah looks a little funny how the pipe just stops...haha.

    Thanks for the comments!!
