ok everyone, i didnt know what to call this thread, but just outta a matter of interest i was wondering what ppl think of the peugeot 405 Mi16 and the T16 or what ever the turbo models called... they are sporty front wheel drives with an optional turbo model, like the celica...

i personally have been in a pretty fast n/a Mi16 and as soon as it gets above about 4500 rpm, the engines just opens up and screams for more... the noise they make is incredible...

what do you guys think about them?? what other front wheel drive cars are there that come in a turbo and n/a setup that compare to the celica???

im just interested, i like my celica better :p

Don't know much about the Peugeot's because they don't sell here in the US, but over here, at least in socal, the B13 sentra se-r, the EF generation CRX and civic hatch SI's are popular here. There's more but those the most common FWD cars i see.

3kgt/Stealth actually compares perfectly with the 4th gen celica.

Base with SOHC Motor (ST/GT 3SFE)
Mid with DOHC Motor (GTS 3SGE)(ES/SL/RT)
AWD TT Terror (AllTrac 3SGTE)(VR4/RT TT)

Probably my favorite car(but I did previously own one) either FWD or AWD.

I can't really say as I've never left the country but Holdens are over thur like the monaro as GMs (i think..) I'm pretty sure they originated from Australia but not 100% sure on that

I've seen one of those Australian home brand type adds sayin "muscle cars imported to the U.S"

They weigh a ton, but they weren't built for 1/4 mile speed. The wide stance and the high hp turbo'd 6 makes them a heck of a AutoX/Road Race car. It has a little more aftermarket support than the 4th gen, but still very small when compared to alot of other vehicles.

Mine handled great, it was a blast to drive(even though it was a Base Model, just ask Mafix. He was impressed with it.) It just broke all the time, and repairs on that car are not cheap. Deep pockets a must.

Same deal with the Eagle Talon/Plymouth Laser/Mitsubishi Eclipse, they have the FWD/AWD turbo set-up, and can be wicked fun to drive, but the Turbo's always broke drivetrain. My friends brothers had a Talon and Laser, the Talon had 4 engine/tranny swaps and the Laser had 3

but lets be totally honest, if your gonna drive a car harder than normal daily driving, its not gonna last HEAPS long... having fun in a car in general requires deeeeep pockets, but its all worth it for the feelin ya get :)

the celi is fine for me right now but i am craving a little more power out of the 3sge... driving a turbo at my age would send me broke cause of insurance costs and speeding tickets :p

these things are notorious for breaking driveline though, much worse than your average car. I'd much rather upkeep an Alltrac than a Talon 4WD.

Haha agreed on the turbo. insurance + tickets + gas = totally broke.

that sounds like the subaru wrx and their gear boxes and clutches... same deal, different car and parts...

the celica's seem to have a much stronger gear box than most cars hey..

i wish i had the money for a turbo charged engine... one day!

Yeah it's not only due to weak tranny internals, but some idiots that think they can launch a 4wd/awd at like a high rpm range are HEAVILY mistaken. That puts much stress on the diffs and tranny, and extremely wears down on the tranny. So essentially, you CAN make a 4wd/awd tranny last, as long as you don't drive it like it's a FWD or RWD car. I guess toyota made the right decision and made durable trannys on these suckas!!!!!!!!

Based on experience, I think i'd prefer the 4g celica out of all other 80s/early 90s FWD cars. Toyota makes more torque than honda does. Plus, Hondas just aren't cool enough haha!

hahaha, i couldnt believe the amount of torque the celica had... from any gear, it pulls pretty hard for the power it has. plus it means when travelling carrying a load, you dont have to shift down to get up hills or mountains... i thought that was pretty cool !

i like the old galant vr4's... like the really old ones... i think they are weapons hey... havent heard any bad stories about them, but maybe cause they are so rare where i live :?:
