    Re: CELICALITUS - explained

May I ask why this is dubbed as "Celicalitus" when it only applies to 4th gens?
And I'll have to disagree with you on the AE86's. They only got a slight bump in value because of Initial D and the drift craze.
I say slight, because I can still find lots for pretty cheap (like less than $3K USD cheap)
Then again, I'm speaking from an American viewpoint, so I have no idea what these are worth over in Australia...

lol everytime I walk outside, the first thing I do is stare at my car. When I look out my window in my room, usually the first thing I look at is my car.... Then I look at the R35 GTR that always drives past my house. :hehe

Haha exactly. I look out the window from my house, from the store, from the office, from my college classroom :shock

All because of this beloved beautiful potentially threatening sinister, gentle amazing car :bowdown

    Thanks for the input

I guess car modding is too subjective and dates too easily - ie, you can tell a 70's kit or style
    from say; 90's styling.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, just because I think something looks good doesn't mean that it is

A classic example - In the 70's BMW built their best car ever (imo) and decided to have famous artists
"dress" them up to embody speed, the results are very interesting

    The stock Procar M1 :cool
    [IMG]

And the one dressed up by Andy Warhol
    [IMG]

IMO I know a few 7yr olds who could do a better job

This Celi has been on sale here - can't think what drugs I'd need for it to start looking cool
    [IMG]

    Cool or uncool?

Celicalitus, yeah I suppose it could apply to all Celica lovers out there regardless of which model.

The AE86s, as you so rightly pointed out, due to the Initial D, went up in value. Now if only that happened to our Gen 4s :naughty

I have a habit of looking back at the Celica when I'm standing in a queue waiting to pay for fuel.

The M1 is just amazing. Beautiful car. The Toyota Celica and the M1 are just one of the many TIMELESS automobile designs. They look amazing years and years later. And look years ahead of their time. And they don't come with loads and loads of rubber for a bumper.

Ehh, I don't really favor the rear bumper. At all. Doesn't flow with the body really. I like the darkened tail lights though :D

Aside from that, I do like our cars having attention but not the attention that the AE86s have. Anything underground is better. Well for me that is. If everyone notices our car then they'd take these Celicas and rape them with bodykits :( lol Kinda like how myspace is considered a kids site. Facebook is more favorable because it's more for older people. This 4th gen is the same way. The 4th gen would stay for the older people, people who want to race, modify, and keep it close to them. Alwayssideways, stig, Steve, Thai, Phantom, etc People who are serious about the 4th gen and not craving attention to themselves. Basically like all of us in here. Anyway, its awesome to have a car no one really has and recieve stares and kudos and smiles

Yes Steve - I believe the value is climbing as we speak, I see it in the auction prices
and the way people say "Can't remember last when I saw one, looks even better now"

The gen4 is THE car that put Toyota in the Motorsport limelight, it has been played down by
the successors but slowly people are realizing just what a breakthrough it was, check the sudden
appearance of a multitude of TTE/Sainz videos appearing on YouTube?

It is an understated "supercar" - I say that with scarcasm as most supercars wish
they had half the pedigree and trophies the gen4 earned - the hard way.

AE86 - LOL, to me just another Corolla with a kit on.... btw my kid sister drove one - impressed much?

Funny how a classic Alfa with scratched original paint and old torn leather is worth 10x that of
one that has been restored and re-sprayed, why? - originality!

And yes, I do see them selling for hundreds of thousands in a few decades time

the AE86 didnt just get bumped up a little, for a black edition model, you are looking at 20 or so grand... for an old AE86!! i dont care how much my car costs to sell, i aint selling my car! so what if i need to pressure wash the engine crossmember when the engine comes out, its my hobby, and my baby, and no one can say different. :D :cool

I put cypher under a car cover when she has cooled down for the night. i also got her a dash mat too, to keep her dash in good nick. :cool

I've noticed the age of the owners of 4th gens in the UK scene are older members between the age of 30 and 40s. On here, there are a lot of young teenage members like yourself Jamezzy who love them.

Yes Kevin, you do have a valid point. My brother in law, lives and works in Hong Kong, he says collectors are willing to pay top money for 4th gen Celicas. :cool

If someone offered me obscene money for mine............I don't know what I'd do :ugh

    Re: CELICALITUS - explained

    hmmm interesting according to "dreammoods"....
    :lol2
    Stolen Car
To dream that you car has been stolen, indicates that you are being stripped of your identity. This may relate to losing your job, a failed relationship, or some situation which has played a significant role in your identity and who you are as a person.
    Car Accident
To dream of a car accident, symbolizes your emotional state. You may be harboring deep anxieties and fears. Are you "driving" yourself too hard? This dream may tell you to slow down before you hit disaster. You need to rethink or re-plan your course of actions and set yourself on a better path.

    Re: CELICALITUS - explained

Yeah, sounds right - I've been jobhunting all of this year, should get my mojo back soon

Steve - I'm worried about your underside, I know how corrosive UK is - so time to start re-doing
    the underside & suspension.
I'll be looking into this too in the near future, look at Mafix, Dave etc threads for what to expect in the near future.
I'm finding major rust in the roof and rear hatches here as well - something to look out for as well as the beams
    holding the bumpers

Only way to ensure the car lasts is -
    1)Rust prevention & elimination - NOW
2)Park it in a sealed garage
    3)Use a de-humidifier in the garage
4)Buy a cheapo daily and use the Celi only when the weathers good
5)Spray the underside with WD50 (or similar) regulary

    Re: CELICALITUS - explained

I hear you Kevin. I had thought about this many years ago before I even got into the club scene. At the moment your suggestion number 4 , I'm doing, except it's not a cheapo daily, the Supra.

I do miss driving it everyday like I used to through rain, snow, etc, but at least it's being protected as much as it possibly can from the elements.

Sometimes I do wonder though, because I'm not driving it everyday, it seems to be wasted just sitting in the garage :sad5 It's not as if I'm one of those "Concours" fanatics who take their cars out to shows on a trailer and put up a "Do not touch" sign :evil I've seen those at shows and I do think that's a bit over the top, after all, it is a car and it's meant to be used.

    Re: CELICALITUS - explained

A lot of people would call you weird using the Supra instead of a gen4, right now they
are worth a lot more and also becoming scarce

I intend to start looking for a Caldina, Camry, Corolla wagon and with a 4A-FE auto will
be light on fuel and big enough to load crap in. If it gets dented scratched or pranged - so what
