Just went by and the guy wasn't around, but I saw the celica. The interior is still in good shape. Cracked taillight and windshield. Paint is faded, but looks solid. I think the guy really talked it down when I was on the phone. I don't trust him so I will pick it up asap. I have to check on back taxes tommorrow and that will determine if the purchase happens or not. I have a feeling the mechanic might try to pull something, just a gut feeling. I didn't like his attitude on the phone. Thing is he moved shops, took the car with him to the new shop and never contacted the ownr. If it gets legal I'm not getting into it.

My experience with most mechanics is that they love cars, but don't love they're lot in life. Therefore they're crabby. So don't spook yourself. I don't think you'll have much to worry about if the mechanic has the title. At that point, what is there to worry about? He gets money and you get keys/title.....

Almost everyone's paint is faded. And I have a tail light for you. So take your time, play it cool and get yourself a rare ST165.

Thank for the advice. I went and picked up the car. It's pretty solid after a good pressure washing. I'll post up some pics when I can. I'm currently on the go and don't have full time internet access. There were no issues with the title other than that the current owner (who I trust) had to transfer it to his name because he never did. I guess he never registered it five years ago. $70 back taxes and I'll have a clean title.

hey! sorry for the delay. I got called away for work, but I do have an uodate. Unfortunately the car engine bay was a disaster, so I bought a half cut gt4 from japan with 86k miles. She is getting a new engine, tranny, jdm grill and lights! I had to push out of town again, but I am trying to get pics now.

Old harness was toast, very butchered. No pics because I got called back to work and had to run with only a small carry on bag. My camera with pics is at my house. :( I'll see what I can do to get someone to send me some. I can post some of the half cut I got. Car is in good shape like the pics I posted before, just a little faded in some spots.

Your dudeness, make sure you don't scrap ANYTHING. There is a market for all the parts you can't use. Even the RHD dash can be sold and from what I can see. There are guys out there that like to convert to RHD so if you keep the clip frame and the RHD interior parts you could find a buyer.

Also, consider yourself lucky for finding a GT-Four clip that has cruise control. Most didn't get it.....

Nice JDM without diff lock, I see why you needed tail lights.
There are no smoked tail lights for these, the ones you saw must have been sprayed.

Cruise control is supa rare as Kev states and I'm sure the body kit already has a place on your car

Yeah, my buddy already has dibbs on the right hand drive rack and pinion and dash as I had no need for it. I'm swapping over the radio, even though it is on japanese freqs, I like the looks of it. I am going to have the GT4 steering wheel re-wrapped and use it. Everything else I'm going to store. I think I might put the front bumper on my white 89 GTS. The best thing is I still have a good 3sgte and tranny in my other one I originally purchased. Now all I have to do is find one with a blown motor that is complete or a bad tranny and I can swap over those parts. Yeah Stig, that's what I needed the tail lights for!

Oh yeah and just shifting it from 1-5 and reverse is sooooo smooth. It's insanely cherry, and the syncros seem like butter.

You won't be able to tell the syncro's are OK till it's running, it's the heavy gears overtaking the synchro braking effect that causes the trouble

The JDM radio requires a band expander, JDM frequencies are much lower, ie 70-90Mhz or some nonsense which means you won't get 100FM or above without the expander

Gotcha on the syncros. I'll have to look for an expander. Is it a common item to purchase?
