If I can find the dough, I would love to take you up on that offer!!

Seriously, If work takes off, I can spend money on the car as sponsorship tax free, and would welcome to have you over here to help

Got if from a crashed group A rally car, it was a St185, full build rally log booked, did 8 stage miles than it crashed and wrote the shell off, the cage did its thing, Owner broke the wreck, my good luck, bad luck for him.

    with the stickers.

Let me know what you need re sizes, spares etc, I think some white/chrome
    would look cool too.

Didn't realize there was no .net's. Those were for your toolbox

    Cheers guys
Well went to silverstone today, not got any pics yet, but hopefully will have some footage of my 0 60mph run and will get my offical pic scanned in.
Silverstone is an epic track to drive, topped out bout 135-140mph on the the Hanger straight. just such a flowing track, tyres went off after the third lap, which was a pain. lots of understeer in the slower corners. Stig, when you raced there, how did you pass, apart from a couple of braking points, its so difficult to keep cormer speed off the racing line, much more so than Brands Hatch I felt
Yoko Parada spec 2s do not work that well on track btw.
    track layout.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Silverstone_2000.jpg
only a few cars came past me, inc a 450bhp Rx7, which went past me on the straight like I was stood still!! Could stay with him and gain in the corners, but backed off trying to catch him on the straight, as no sense in running the oil temps silly high.

Most pleased with the 0-60 run, only 1 launch, so no practice, but I did a 5.85sec run to 60mph, which I think aint bad at all. an Evo 8 following me did a 5.88. best run was a Focus on slicks, did 2.3!!!!!!!!!!!!! better techique, my R888s and runing the flat shift should see me into the low 5s. Going to go to the dragstrip next month, want a low 13 !! he he

Cheers for all the comments, just love my car sooo much at the mo. oh and lone wolf, the pics are up just a couple pages back, I think Mafix did a much needed tidy up on my thread.

Get some helper springs and you won't need to tape them on,
what's cool is you can now play with rates & lengths, heights etc.

Silverstone is so fast all we could do was slipstream like crazy and wait
for mistakes. Your class is not that evenly matched but I figure you were using
the faster guys to drag you along.

It's hard to be fast and save tyres for later, you have to be as smooth as possible and
be kind to them while making life difficult for the guys behind you

Your gearing is way higher than I thought, which is good. Any idea what the ratios are?
as I found a ST185 at the yards yesterday. 140mph is enough for me

Re: My 88 GT4 ST165 Sprint / fast road car pics on 3 wheels pg13

Yeah I am so pleased, the coilovers will need some work to fit mine, they are from a ST182 vert, but are re buildable, so can play with spring rates etc. should help to dial in the car better.

Re the track, I gained so much time on the more powerful rwd cars in the Woodcote & club corners, as they open onto the t straights, but then they would just open the taps and go

If I had my track tyres fitted it would have been a different story, but as it was only a track day, I did not want to kill the R888s I only have enough life in them for 2 more events. I found it hard to get a good braking point at the end of hanger straight, but in the complex, man it was so much fun. Until the front tyres gave up a bit, I had enough front end grip to get the car into nice 4 wheel drifts, balancing it with the throttle, but as the tyres went off at the front, I just could not keep the balance. As all my sprints are very short and this was 25mins or so on track, I have to learn about tyre management, I pushed too hard too quickly. Could not get over the fact that on the tv Silverstone looks flat as a pancake, yet there are actually some dips which is cool. Its so wide compared to brands and Oulton as well. The Moto gp guys will race there next year, swaping with F1, I wonder how they will get on. I passed a car on the run down to Maggotts and was off line for one entry, boy thats fun!!! was all over the shop though that series off corners thanks to a poor entry.

Re: My 88 GT4 ST165 Sprint / fast road car pics on 3 wheels pg13

ratio info, cut an paste from another topic.

    GT4 gearbox list
    E50F1 86-87 Japan spec. ST165 (locking diff)
    E50F2 (2 is usually dropped) all 87-89 ST165
    E150F ST185, USA versions
E151F ST185, in Europe and Australia.
    E152F ST185 rally, (Japanese version).
    E154F ST205 This is the box I run :D

    All ST165 - 185 - 205 Gearboxes are 5 speed manual
    Gears E50F2 E150F E151F E152F E154F
    1st 3.583 3.384 3.583 3.230 3.384
    2nd 2.045 1.931 2.045 2.041 1.913
    3rd 1.333 1.333 1.333 1.518 1.258
    4th 0.972 0.972 0.972 1.258 0.918
    5th 0.731 0.731 0.731 0.731 0.731
    Reverse 3.583 3.545 3.545 3.545 3.545
    Final drive ratio 3.933 4.285 3.933 4.285 4.285

According the EPC, the gearbox internals of the facelifted Celica (ST185, after no. 15446) are the same a the CS versions, but the transmission case is still listed as E150F??? Don't ask me why, I don't know.

There should be four Japanese ST185 gearboxes. The normal 4.285 89-91 gearbox, the Rally gearbox (E152F) with different ratios, the RC box (3.933) and I (RD) *believe* that after 91 the standard car also got the dual cone RC synchros.
    Not sure on that.

It looks like you spec 185 box, if its an oz model is identical to the 165.

    Thanks Always

Your 4th gear is my 5th gear (and most guys here), I'm tempted to go pull the box out or maybe just the 5th gear.
Chances are it won't fit the S53 though
I lost the MR2 turbo box auction, but Im sure more will surface

Are there any gen2 GTE parts worth salvaging? It looks just like the gen1

Good parts from Gen 2 are the cambelt side engine mount and strap, the gen 1 does without the linking bar to the top off the alt bracket, resulting in stress cracks, the gen 2 mounts fixes this with a brace, the alt already has a bolt hole for it.
Apart from that, no real bonus over the gen 1, the head and cams give a bit more torque, but then you have the hassle of the elecs etc, as the fuel rail etc are all different.

So you guys just need the side mount and make up a rod to suit?

The head looks identical to my Gen2 GE, barring the rocker rover with those
2 pipes sticking up in the middle, but all GE Gen2's already have a brace/mount.

I bought 2 types of rod to fix my gen1 bracket problem yesterday (pic on my page)
Actually I didn't know but there is supposed to be another brace at the bottom of the Gen2
alt bracket running across the oil filter, it's cast iron and must weigh a ton, so I didn't get one.
The Gen2 exhaust brackets weigh a ton and I've already cut them way down

Dunno why but selected Gen1 GE's have the alt brace too (TEMS +?).
Just found my boot windows are different as well. One has a Vignette striped pattern across the top about 20cm wide,
    Yours?
