Thanks so much! My priority is to turn my red interior to black... and get my a/c to work right... other than this, i will be retaining my car mostly stock...

 

Picked up the car Saturday, thanks Josh! Got her home around midnight last night and just finished pressure washing her and looking over where to start. Was kinda surprised to find 16" alloy wheels, was thinking they were just 15s.

Hey turns out the tranny is from a GT, so it's not GTS gearing, if you are OK with that I'll pull it for you?

Hmmm how different would the gearing be?

 

I think this is what your looking for, if I remember correctly the GTS has the S53 tranny while the GT has the S54 tranny this older info might shed some light on your questions....

Thanks for the info! Im not sure what ill have to change out for a fe tranny to work so i may just wait for a GT-S tranny to hopefully show up!

 

I've done a little more research and it looks like the S53 came in both cars just with different final drive ratios, and according to Mafix the GT box might have a better final drive. I should remember all this but my project has taken so long these things are starting to all run together.

Hahah thanks for the clarity! As long as I can still use my CV's and the starter doesnt need to be relocated Ill take it! If it worked in a GE on this car, I dont see why it wouldnt on mine.

 

What condition are the brake calipers and seats?

 

Seats are in very good condition, brakes are going to take quite a bit of cleaning, re-building, and possible replacement of some parts, car sat for a very long time. I just got the car unloaded and placed under my canopy, moved my '86 GT over next to it so I can swap some pieces between them. Going to be fairly busy this week with other projects, so may not get started on the car, but will let everyone know when I start dis-assembly.

in this current financial state of our economy, I know anything we can get/do to make extra cash influx is imperative...

I know I asked for it first but as I told Mr. Bob, it may take me some time... and I totally undertsand if someone else is ready for it... no grudges on my end... but I may hit myself in the head if I don't get the parts...

My target date is Columbus weekend but even that looks dim...

But I am really looking into gettin gthe HVAC controls and maybe the A/C amplifier as well...

 

I just had a great idea, if both you guys could come to my place some weekend, we could all tear into this car and my storage barn and piece together all the parts your looking for. I'm in no hurry at all, so just let me know when you can come give a helping hand and work for your parts? HAHAHA

Hey racerb is there anyway you can test the transmission out before I come get it since the car sat so long?

 

I'll check it out, hope to get her started and see if she shifts though all gears?
