I'm trying to figure out what the throttle cable is connected to, since i have the cruise control version and coming up with a way to remove it. Something is holding it but i just don't know what? Can somebody help? im using cannon's engine bay picture as an example
You have a RHD car? I don't have C/C but maybe I see the problem That looks like the wiper washer motor in the circle, it doesn't hold the cable unless the cable is stuck under it. That car doesn't have cruise either? Need to see a pic of your car
my car is LHD heres some pictures which could help engine bay close up of cruise control like in my first post the yellow is the throttle cable which is going to the cruise control hope this helps
oh....i know that that's high pressure power steering line What im asking is, based on the first post and first picture, what is the throttle cable (yellow) connected to when there is no cruise control? the red circle with the question mark is where i see the throttle cable going...but connected to what? Stig needed pictures of my engine bay in order to help me out
Ok, My car doesn't have C/C, the throttle cable runs straight from the T/B to the pedal. I think what you're referring to is the plastic firewall grommet behind that wiper washer motor. Your car should have the same? All you need is another throttle cable, being LHD I'm not sure how that runs, as your pedal is on the other side
ahhhh.....ok now i see . There is actually a rubber firewall grommet close to my master cylinder so I would just have to reroute the cable back through there. would removing the cable be difficult? are there certain precautions i have to take when removing the cable?
Not that I can remember I did unbolt the pedal to make it easier to put the cable back in, from memory the grommet just screwed into the firewall and is part of the cable
how do you remove the cable from the throttle body? I know that the cable is connected to some sort of peg thats on the throttle body hinge but there is no way to just "pop it out".
Just turn the throttle by hand, the cable will "fall" off the guide. You can then slide the cable out of the holder
i used that info and i got the cruise control taken off and rerouted the cable. Thanks Stig for the help. for Everyone: i'll be typing up a write up for removing the cruise control components...if I have time this week....classes and such.
Anytime bud, that's why we're here I'm glad you got it sorted "Experience is something you gain the minute after you needed it most"
