any clear indicators the afm needs to be cleaned or changed? and on the plug that connects to the afm, is on contact pin inside the plug empty? my celica is having some sort of igniting problem, changed the distributor (had no spark before), timing set.. but this problem is still occuring. and to avoid a long story.. i believe the afm got some moisture inside.. and when i turn the engine off now.. you can hear the flaps inside the afm flap twice as the engine stops...
oh sorry i meant that the afm problem is still occuring. fixed my spark prob w/ a new dizzy. but the car stumbles a little bit on start and also when i shut the engine off, you can hear the flaps in the afm literally flap twice...
you can throw the afm in the trash and it will still run, wont idle, have no throttle response, and will stall like a slow kid in class. but it will run. i suggest give your a car a tune up, and since you replaced the dist. check your timing as well.
You can test the AFM if you have an ohmmeter. main link: viewtopic.php?f=55&t=2113 External page link: http://www.st165-all-trac.net/st162manu ... n/fi84.jpg
