does anyone know what the torc specs are for the valve cover of a 88 celica gts 3s-ge engine. i cant find them in my repair manual. if anyone can help it would be helpful thank you.
if your on about the cover that goes on over the cam just tighten it till its tight! dont think theres a specific torque to it!
actually, now that there is a spec i might use it because mine is always leaking! even when i put gaket sealer! and the bolts came loose! might be better if there all even!
are you shure its going to be 14. sounds a little loose to me. i just dont want to over tighten anything and mess stuff up.
there is basically no load with heaps of screws not much pressure is on them. Also going into an alloy head much pressure on such a small screw will simply strip the thread of the head. Sean have you tried a new gasket? also if the bolts are loose trie giving the threads a clean with a thread tapper
ya ive done that with the screws,,, i even changed the gasket but sill weeps over near the timing belt!! i think ill try torqueing them even.... and see how that goes!!
i think i have seen after market Screws for it that dont' use a Phillips screw driver (freekin screw head strips so easy), otherwise try not to strip the screw head when tightening makes it a PITA to remove in the future
the main problem is the grooves are an odd sizem the most importtant thing is to have a screw driver with the right shaped/sized head. sean if if leaking at the timing belt area, did you silicone up the end can shaft rtainers? if not tahts probably the reason
ya i used gasket sealer all over it! on the inside of the valve cover gasket and on the full face were it meets the head! it drives me nuts!!!
