ss's and front are all fitted and on. not sure whats gonna happen with the rear. i think im gonna have the car painted with no rear and no trim and see how it looks. gotta find the hood aswell. hopefully i can get it in for paint before the end of the month. its looks pretty horrid right now.

oh just wait......i got some really great ideas at the "theoldschoolreunion" meet. old school euro and jdm (pre 87). ill try to post some pics tomorrow. i really feel the urgent need to get the body done so i dont look like a retard driving this thing around....but really wanna spend the money on other upgrades.

-picked up a factory alarm today with all the stuff....$19 bucks at pick n pull. :D ill take a pic tomorrow.

-also found a few other minor bits i need. and picked up a cluster to verify my gauge inaccuracies. got a good rear hatch seal and new door seals, that arent painted.

Re: jwagner's project: "the dog" kaminari test fit pics up

-some updates. new rotors, new door rubbers, new hatch seal, alarm waiting for install (not sure on this one), push fan modded to fit (from an auto), new cv's waiting (i know not tripoid, but hey they were $44 each shipped. my boots are all toast. also came w/ new center support bearing)
-also really had no great reason for changing disks, there was a slight swishing sound from them beaning pitted and sitting so long. was slowly going away, but they were only $12 each shipped. didnt even mic the old ones to compare to spec, but there is a notable difference in thickness. couldnt think of an awesome reason for anything upgraded, just getting evrything to new/stock condition will make a huge improvement.
-stig, ill get the shields of later. out of earplugs at the house....im alergic to grinder noise :D

-amazingly at a junk yard. seems like door seals are usually ok but hatch seals are a rare one. every time i go i look, and if its better than the current one ill snatch it.

-actaully the only thing wrong with my door seals was that some asswad painted them when they did the car. i think its the only thing the paint is actually sticking to.....painters tape takes it of the body parts. :roll

    (also, what does tripoid mean?)

rockauto.com.....its where i buy pretty much all my new parts.

-there are 2 types of cv joints rzeppa and tripod. the inner on stock gt-s axles is a tripod type while the outer is always a rzeppa. though it looks like replacement axles use either or. the tipod doesnt have a "ball and cage" setup. rather its 3 rollers w/ needle bearings. picture 3 skateboard wheels laying on there side around the end of a broom handle.

-ill take pics when i get around to doing it.

Re: jwagner's project: "the dog" dyno results.

-so i was idgging around my gf's facebook page wondering what some of the people i hung out in high school were up to. found out one of my good friends just opened up his own tuning shop a couple weeks ago. its basically a honda shop. but he let me run "the dog" on his dyno.

-his dynos new and he refers to it as "the heartbreaker" as it consistently reads about 20hp less than the last place he worked. but no excuses. nor do i really know what that would mean.

-a whopping 126.3 at the wheels! :cry i have to say i was hoping for around 25 more, but since i really have no idea what im doing or what to expect i guess this should work for a baseline.

-rich said he was actually suprised, and guessed 100hp before the test.

That just means the reading should be 145, not 125. Not bad as I think 165 hp (JDM) is flywheel power.

Looks like the TVIS is opening around 4300 rpm?
Whats with the fuel, starts OK and gets rich quick, air filter blocked? no fan in front?

Some timing & fuel adjustments and it should go higher

Re: jwagner's project: "the dog" dyno results.

-i think jdm converts to 156hp @ the fly wheel. hes saying -30-40 through the drive train. so + cams and header is about right.

-ill take the 125 reading i guess. he said the other dyno would put put stock hondas 10-15 over the factory flywheel numbers at the wheels. so i guess hes assuming his is more accurate.

-everything of mine is in top shape, and yep 3 fans in front.

-maybe the spike has something to do with tvis opening vs. new o2 location???? no idea.

    Yep, sounds right

I meant maybe the air pressure in front wasn't enough on the dyno?
Looks like it could use more air or smaller injectors

The TVIS does have strange effects, your A/F ratio is the same at 3000 and 5000
with a massive dip in between while power & torque jump up at 4300

Are you using the JDM ECU?
    EGR?
    Cams?
    did you compare the ECU's?
    Advance timing?

Re: jwagner's project: "the dog" dyno results.

A:F steadily going down until tvis opens = lets more air for a split second before the ecu makes the mix rich again?

    total guess :ugh

Re: jwagner's project: "the dog" dyno results.

    stig,

jdm ecu...didnt even think to compare.
    no egr
yes cams. unsure on spec as there custom weld/grind....the way i read the sheet it would make them a 293/282 advertised duration? ill post a pic tomorrow.
    gen2 header
    o2 after the collector.
2.25in exhaust w/ no cat, straight through.
    timing at 10 deg (stock)
    k&n filter.

-entrax, yep i would imagine the tvis opening gives a giant gulp of air, then takes a sec for the ecu to compensate.

-a quick note to everyone about dyno's...from a first timer....once you know, your car will be noticably slower. :aargh

lol guys. well lets see here...
your cams are much smaller than that advertisement. much closer to stock. and those are why your a/f reading is all over the place. personally i'd get rid of those cams in favor of some kelfords.
126whp is what i'd expect out of a brand new 3sge usdm stock. i think your doing just fine.
