Well no more work on the mirrors its getting to cold out so I'm going
to banish winter from my garage before it gets any worse. In the spring
I picked up a furnace for a couple hundred bucks and have been cursing
it ever since because it really does take up quite a bit of space but now
that its getting cold I'm starting to like it more.

OMG thats a pile of wires, never ever looked at a furnace before so this
    should be fun.[IMG]

I got the furnace, oil tank, all the duct work the only thing
I couldn't take was the thermostat as he said it belonged to the city as
some sort of energy saving program so that sucked but thats life so I don't
really know what to do with that pile of wires but when it comes right down
to it I really only need to send power to the furnace motor/ignitor and also
send power to the fan motor
    [IMG]

In the picture above you can see a propane heater I have used to heat my little
work shop but it takes about 1/2 hour to heat up my 10' x 12' area and its rated
at 15000 BTU. I don't know what size injector the furnace has but at the very
least its putting out 5 times as much heat.

I did get a giant oil tank with the furnace but I don't want to use it so I cut the
threads off this fuel can breather hole so I could attach a hose to it
    [IMG]

I filled it up 1/2 liter at a time so I can see how much fuel I go through
    [IMG]

this is the setup I'm going with for now, I just need to hook up the exhaust to
make it functional. eventually I'll put it where the wood stove is as it currently
takes up about 4' x 3' in a room that is only 12' x 10' so every bit of space counts.
It will definetely heat the room up !!!! 120 square feet and the furnace is probably
designed for 2000 square feet. Of course it will also be able to heat the front part
of the garage too which would increase the area to about 400 square feet
    [IMG]

since I didn't get the thermostat I'm going gheto for now with a simple light switch
    [IMG]

Since I know nothing about furnaces I checked the one in my house. I don't know
what their called but the box on top of the motor with a reset switch controls the
motor and ignitor and has connections for a thermostat, the other bit of electronics
to the right of it has a little white push/pull switch and allows you to switch the
fan from manual to auto. Both these units are identical to the ones in the garage.
Unfortuneately my home furnace does not have that box on the side of the furnace
that has all those wire you see in the first picture of this post......crap
    [IMG]

So I have my garage furnace running, it fired right up but in the auto mode the fan
won't turn on but I can turn the fan on by putting the switch in the manual mode so
thats not ideal but for now it will do. So I went back to my house furnace and did
some more investigating and found out that there is a relay for the fan hidden inside
    the wire housing.

So I went back to that pile of wire that I junked from the garage furnace and upon
closer inspection it does state "Fan centre SPDT" so I guess I'm going to have to
stick this back on one of these days if I want the fan to come on automatically and
I want that but for now at least I can control it manually so I'm going to be a happy
camper out in my garage this winter

Nice. I hate wires, but it looks like something that us car guys will come across lol You just saved yourself money installing things yourself. That's the beauty knowing how to do things yourself :mrgreen

You know I do like my duct tape

I did have 2 reasons for getting the furnace, one was to heat the garage but the
other was so I would know how to fix my home furnace if it breaks and to have
spare parts for the home furnace if need be.

I stuck the box I had removed from the furnace back on & re wirered the internal
high voltage wires. All those wires in the previous picture were low voltage thermostat
wires which allowed the thermostat to turn the fan on manually. So now the fan turns
on after the furnace heats up and shuts down when the heating cycle is complete. The
furnace is a pig on oil it took about 2 liters to heat the small room for about 5 hours but
it does a good job of making heat.

In order to make the furnace a bit more efficent I have wired the fan switch to
the thermostat switch so the fan turns on when the furnace turns on instead
of waiting for the furnace to warm up as it seems to wait until the internal
temperature is way warmer than I have it set for the fan to turn on..of course
the sensor is probably 20 plus years old so I'll just override it and start the fan
    right away
    [IMG]

stopped at the u pull today because they had seats on sale for $8 and I found a
5th gen there and the last time I was there I was thinking I bet that 5th gen
license plate holder would fit a 4th gen width wise so I grabbed one today overall
it is exactly the same width but obviouslly it is taller than the 4th gen but thats
okay because I really only want the red lens and I can mold the rest out of fiberglass
so thats another project in the making, I want people to know whats passing them :hehe
    [IMG]

and I scored a couple of 2007 Chrysler mini van seat for $16 to put in my boat to
replace the crappy standard boat seats that typically cost $50-60 apiece.

and I think I finally got the 2 eyes pretty close and started to do the final bodywork

I'm into boats so post a pic when your done......... you and your tripp'n ideas amaze me..... what's next..... a Celica steering wheel :eek:hnoes :lachtot

I do like my Celica seats and I do have spares, as you can see in my avitar even my cat
thinks their comfy but their is 1 thing that North American car makers do very well and that
is to make comfortable interiors so as nice as the Celica seats are they dont come close to
the comfort level of the chrysler town & country seats, this is their top model 2007 had a
BIG "V" in the front of it and the whole roof had caved in in the middle looked like it must
have hit a pole and then the pole fell on the roof and caved it in. Their also leather so they'll
be more water resistant than my Celica seats which are all cloth.

Ah its nothing fancy I don't know how old the boat is its 14' and its got a 1969 25hp johnson outboard
with electric start. I added the 3 seats and the light bar which folds down so I can put a boat cover
over the boat. But it gets me and my buddy out on the river to consume various substances and sometimes
    catch some fish.

this is probably the best seat (since its where I sit) and its crap. Its okay for and hour but try to sit
in it for 5 or 6 hours and its a piece of crap and I probably paid at least $60 for the piece of crap
Did I mention its a piece of crap :barf
    [IMG]

So for $9.03 by the time the government screwed me out of $1.03 theirs no question which seat
I'd be choosing if the 2 options were available
    [IMG]

Power everthing and heated although I doubt I'll need the heating option
I think someone had tried to get the seats out before me as the passenger seat allready had its
2 front bolts removed but then the person discovered their was no way to get at the rear bolts
without power to the seat to move the track forward so I guess they gave up. I got in the back
of the mini van and bent the seat back and forth until metal fatigue worked its wonders and the
base the seat was bolted to finally broke free leaving me the 2 extra bits of metal the green arrows
point to. I thought the black box to the left of those bits of metal may be a computer for the seats
and it is required for the drivers seat to function as you can see the seat switch only has 4 wires
and thiers no way 4 wires could dirrectly control 4 motors in 2 dirrections
    [IMG]

so I don't think its the only computer as I only need to use the 2 black wires 1 orange wire and 1 red
wire to make all the seat motors work. I also grabbed a switch out of the drivers door that is typically
used to set and recall 2 different pre programmed seat positions yellow arrow. I would have liked that,
I could have programmed a lazy setting and a super lazy setting and switched back and forth with the
push of a button Ah well...

I can even raise and lower the height of the seat
    [IMG]

the passenger seat is self contained you can see the control switch has alot more wires I just need
to apply battery voltage to the black and orange wires to make all the motors work
    [IMG]

A little more work on the mirrors. I wanted to see how well I could bend
the lens for the eye so I got my heat gun and warmed the lens up till it
softened and then I shaped the lens to the curve I wanted
    [IMG]

I bevelled the inside edge of the lens which I think helped to set it into the
position I wanted, I got a little to hot with the heatgun as the orange around
the edge that the arrow points to is where the plastic started to bubble a bit
but does not matter as it isn't noticable on the outside
    [IMG]

So overall I'm real happy with the way the lens turned out. You may not be able
to notice it in the previous pictures but there really is quite a curve to the lens
to get it to fit the profile of the eye socket

and I got the aluminum bar that is going to hold some turn signal leds cut

I put a couple of strips of fiberglass in the led area about 3/8" in so they
would hold the aluminum strip in place
    [IMG]

I don't know what I was thinking when I used bondo on the drivers side
skull when I started but it didn't work to well with the detail of the teeth
so I could spend alot of time trying to sand the bondo
    [IMG]

or I could cast a new set of teeth in fiberglass
    [IMG]

and then fit them to the skull
    [IMG]

luckilly I did the passenger side mold correctly
    [IMG]

I also thought I'd see what was up with the 5th gen license plate holder.

I was really thinking red lens would be glued to the black plastic the same as turn signal
lens's are but luckilly it just clips together. Unfortuneately Toyota decided to paint the
back of the lens which sucks but luckilly some acetone a rag and a lot of rubbing and it
does eventually wipe off (black arrow)

here I have wiped the paint of one of the C's
    [IMG]

and held up to a light you can see how effective the paint is
    [IMG]

So now I just have to figure out exactly what I'm going to do with it

I guess you could you do own the site so I would imagine that if anyone could change
my user name you'd be the one. I certainly do get in there and cut them up pretty good
eh.......and I'm just getting warmed up. I would really like to get my All Trac in the garage
this winter and go IMSA on it then I would probably deserve the user name dr. frankenstein
    [IMG]

For now that crappy thing called winter is getting close so I'm doing a big cleanup and
getting rid of junk and one thing I had extra was an old 5sfe 92 camry engine and auto
tranny which still ran but I have no use for so I'll strip it down so I can sell the aluminum
seperately at the scrap yard and I never took appart an auto tranny before so a new
    learning experience

I don't know if coolant or just rain water was leaking into the 3rd cylinder it did sit outside
    for a couple of years
    [IMG]

this area had the differential in it you can see the gear from the transmission that drove it.

taking of the back cap you can see the 2 shafts that are typical in a transmission
    [IMG]

taking off the engines oil pan I find this giant piece of I don't know what? its got gears
in it and appears to be driven by the crankshaft so I'll have to investigate that further
hopefully they made it out of aluminum
    [IMG]

whats with these bolts the head bolts were the same I can use a 12mm 12 point socket
but its not a perfect fit and here they've used them again on whatever this lump under
    the crankshaft is
