I would like to know if there's anything I can do without having to cut and weld to stop rust from spreading this winter. I have a lot of rust around the rear arches and I don't want it to spread. I was thinking of some kind of paint or converter that would cover it. Would it even be worth trying to stop it from spreading this way? I don't have much money to spend here, either!
1) You can brush on rust converter (the white liquid type that forms a plasticy layer & turns rust purple), the clear watery stuff is useless imo, but it won't be able to get into the places where the worst rust is. 2) Fish oil spray (deodorized) - this is my find of the year, spray it everywhere and forget about rust. Even using rust converter afterward fails to find/convert any rust. Only downside is it does become sticky for a few weeks but it will run into places you never knew existed and the spray will reach far down channels etc
Thanks, I'll start looking into fish oil! EDIT: Where do you get it...? I just checked the websites of some autostores (which they may not have on the site), and a home improvement store and neither had it.
