Its not difficult at all however you shouldn't do it out of spray cans. Visit dipyourcar.com for more information about the dipping process and using it out of a spraygun. I ran into a few issues with the way that the wing connects to the body vs how the plastidip settles onto it. Overall it looks great. With 2 gallons of plastidip, I was able to turn a white car black without any see through. I was only able to coat the car about four times and my fumbles with the spray gun shows in some areas of the car. If you do it properly, the finish should be smooth and textured. Certain areas of my car like the roof are rough because I sprayed far too close. The light here makes it look almost grey but its smooth and the finish looks good.
Yup............ PLASTIDIP, WHAT CAN'T IT DO :lol If Plasti-Dip is used properly with the right preperation and application then jobs turn out sweet and is as tough as. @Zaluss, when it's settled you can take to it with some light wet and dry with the hose then use some polishing gear. BUT not too much, you still want the 'look'. When I'v finshed repairing and prepping my splitter it will get some coats of it for sure.
Guy's I think you's all are getting the wrong info on that stuff it should only be used for smaller Items I really can't say exactly but I agree with Liontr it will peal off and with time going to start bubbling and pealing what sort heat can it handle? It does all look good for now but not my kind of choice sorry for that.
well, at a carshow (big one) last month Plastidip showed a dipped car on their stand... Wasnt there myself, but heard it from friends. Not done nicely though...bad commercial decision..
If it can be used for smaller things, why not bigger things? Its just more surface area. This is by no means a permanent paint job. I bought it based on the fact it'll peel off easily within a year and change colors. Its hard as a rock and durable as hell. I've been following folks who have dipped their entire car over on the Audizine forums as well as dipyourcar.com. I didn't make this decision lightly.
Yes agree with what you are saying Zaluss and like Marc said let's wait and see I didn't mean to offend you just I don't like it and who am I anyway everyone as there own choice's don't worry be happy
Oh no offense taken. After a few days the "paint" still looks like new. Some soft cloth and water cleans up any debris/bird crap so far. I've thrown rocks at the paint up close to see how tough it is. Extremely durable considering the roads around here. If it lasts me 6 months, the $50 I spent on a gallon of plastidip would be worth it. I'll just peel it right off and use a different color. I'm thinking something crazy like bright green or orange. Or maybe just a matte white? Who knows.
Ok we cool Zaluss $50 that's cheap, throwing rock's got to be careful it does not make dent's under it lol.Bright green or orange might just look good white I would stay away because being matt oil stains and dust will be really hard to remove.
lol my ST165 body parts looked just like yours. Gonna need to fix my parts up soon. Can't wait to put them on!!!
