Alot of you guys are making good points of what needs to be done to help advertise the site. But in gods honest truth, how many of you guys purchased these cars to begin with to end up with the hp monsters/head turners you have now?

I like these cars as they still have much more 'male' lines than the newer models. But these cars are also suffering from old age. I used to see a few floating around where I am. Now, well...I saw Mafix's car at the shop and I passed it the other day going down the road.

The old red vert I used to see is long gone. Was also a few others here and there that have not been spotted in a long while. Its just not a sought after car. Most of what you are going to attract are newbies who just got their liscense or first cars (sorry guys, but you know who you are).

And while they all mean well, are eventually going to find themselves over their heads with problems. Parents are just going to sell the car because of said problems instead of spending more cash just to fix the car.

I don't mean to be a downer, but the die hard 4G fans are not many. Its nice to get new members and have a few actually stick around. (Look at me. I don't own one. I've semi sorta stuck around) But I don't think we're going to get much more than what we've already got.

We need to determine what parts of the world that still have a significant amount of 4th gens rolling and focus on those areas. NE USA is less likely to be targeted due to RUST. Places like the S USA or other countries with NO RUST - like AU.

theres plenty kicking here in oz but as for actual enthusiests good luck. You find about 5 a day listed on ebay and most are listed as "rebuild or parts car". Weve been getting a fair few newbys on ozcelica atm but they are all quite young (funny coz so am i lol) and havent really made any posts other than introduce. Theres a guy on there in the process of a gen3 gte conversion im gunna try and get him over here as his is shaping up to be quite a very nice car.

Time will tell, I think solong as members are pro-active and continue meeting and greeting,
promoting the site etc - it will pick up
There is still a bunch of lost cars out there and owners looking for spares to revive them
A lot of the people I meet don't have internet or didn't know there are sites for their cars.

I've found that 4th gen guys on other sites are largely ignored and slowly moving over to where
they can get the parts, info, advice that they need

I'm not knocking the younger guys at all, there are several who realize they have something
special and are doing a great job. It's up to us "older" guys to lead by example.

I would just like to see less emphasis on "bling" & "rice" and more maintenance, mechanical advice & how-to's.

I had a blinged car here this weekend (17's, coilovers, gen2 exh, recaro's, sound etc), it really looked
good and the owner is really proud of it. When I climbed underneath, the box, motor, P/S, CV
seals had all gone and there was grease everywhere - it will fail it's next test and probably
get parted out if he doesn't pull the motor and sort those seals now

Sambo's car has been parked up till we can sort it properly and the TEMS car is currently in
1 000 000 pieces, as much as I'd like to be using it, there's too many faults to fix first

i think this site needs some downloadable media as well. i remember in the 4gcelica.net days we had some kick ass wall papers to download. i think we need to start that again. sexy girls + 4g's = publicity.. maybe some of the photoshop worthy ppl on here can start with a few trial designs. (i personally miss the redlined tach with the site logo) then the mod team and whoever else is on board can flood the inter-webs with 162.net. which reminds me, i need a site logo sticker for my toolbox (any takers?). that can be another media boost as well. the site calender was a good idea, but rotm kinda flatlined. i am starting to see more and more people interested in repair, but there removing the damaged sections rather than repairing them. ie; pwr steering. most just take it off rather than fix it. but we gotta understand that some newbies have limited mechanical skills and dont know what we ramble on about half the time. they dont like to ask questions in lieu of feeling like an idiot.

its a good point re the skill set, sometimes I assume that they know basic stuff and they dont, and thats my bad.

lets get some sexy pics sorted of our cars and get some wall papers sorted.

I have loads of info on the TTE cars, from books and magazines I have, I will write it out In own words to avoid any copyrights and get some pics together, then we can add a bit off rally stuff to the site.

Fingers crossed should have a couple of new members from the uk on there way.

If you look at the member list, there are tons and tons of registered people, without a single post??? whats that about?

yeah i hear that rich, like i said about half the members on this site have little to no posts. ive had some members ask me some basssiiccc questions. but if you dont ask, how will you learn? i remember when i was a kid and didnt know a hammer from a bagel. i signed up for c-tech and got torn apart by them. i was like wtf these guys are dicks. tried toy, cel, online same thing. then i found the 4g.net, people actually answered me like i wasnt some retarded kid. people wanting to help newbies like we ALL once were, is what sets this place apart.

and i got bored... heres a proto-type to boost the site.

hahaha i love it^ only coz of the caption :p

The fear of being considered a dick or a dumbass i think is the major concern for people not posting. From memory it held me back for a while, now every one knows im dumbass so i no longer care :p. To make people feel any less aprehensive is quite a mean feat. As i said earlier everyone was really niec from the get go but i was still nervous about posting and im a outgoing dont give a shit kinda personality.

I think like where rich is going we need to focu more on boosting the rep/heritage of the 4thgen. No one knows anything about them and most that newer people are exposed to are th shitty ones up for sale on ebay coz no one can be bothered with them anymore. i think what we need is pics of the some more kick ass cars to show up in google images ???
only a select few from 162.net come up if you search for "st162" the most noticeable the photo of rye lol

What's with the Honda fixation?, most are so riced they look like you're stuck in your
    kid brother's NFS game save.
If someone gave me an NSX, I wouldn't say NO. It could look good next to the Celi's

I had a guy in an orange Gallardo checking out my car the other day at a shopping
centre and got even more strange looks and head rubbing when I pulled out a 2,8m
ladder and some 2m long signs, toolboxes etc out of my "sports car"

How about a gallery of all the standard models, the engine section is there, but nothing to
link them with the models they came from
    A gallery of modded cars
    A rally/race gallery

I like the wallpaper idea, I have a few I use already and those brochures Oxi has have some
    awesome pics on them
