yes i did read the how to make your 4g handle thread.
well my 4g has a LOT of body roll, and its wierd because its not as bad if i take my aftermarket strut bars off and just leave the stock one on, im thinking this is because my springs are shit. so i want to get rid of that body roll so i can start having fun on the twisties!
but on a limited budget, i was wondering what things are most important, i already have f+r whiteline strut bars, and kyb gr-2 rear struts that arent installed yet.
i was thinking B+G 1.6 drop springs would be the first thing to buy, and then after that im not sure.
oh and also im rocking the stock 14 inch wheels, but wheels+tires are so damn expensive and my tires still have lots of tread left.
i would really like to get most the bushings replaced with poly, if someone can link me to some that would be great.
im also interested in frame connectors, im assuming these would have to be custom made?

you want stiffer springs and less rubber bushings. if your on the cheap, cut your stock coils. chop off about 1 coil with a grinder. less active coils means a stiffer spring rate. and poly bushing your car. strut bars dont do f- all maybe deflect a little chasis twist, but other than that. and the stock sway bar mounts blow, imo get a f-n beefy sway bar, the wider the better. you can make em for cheap. then tie it up with a set of rod ends. when in a corner all your weight goes to the outside wheels, the faster you are, the more roll you have. wider track with will help you out too. hope this helps.

If you have a look at my car thread. I have just posted loads about suspension.

IMO, its not just about as stiff a spring as possible, you need progression from some of the coils, other wise the car will be very skittish and move arround from road imperfections.
I have changed from Whiteline control to whiteline Flat out springs, which are lower and stiffer, on the road they do limit roll, but the first 3 coils are still soft and progressive, so the ride and traction of the car is still very good.

Totally agree about poly bushing, also get some camber bolts, cheap upgrade and neg camber really helps.

The whiteline rear sway bar is good, but resist the temptation to go to stiff on the rear, the car will just become less progressive on the limit, and twitchy.

IMO, the key to having a fun fast road handling car, is to have a set up which gives you confidence. I can drive to and past the limits of my car, as I know that in extremis the car will re act neturally. if you go to stiff, and create a car that is nervous on the limit, and affected by bumps and road camber, you will not have as much fun on the road.

    If it were me.

    Lower stiffer springs
    Camber bolts
    rear sway bay
    poly bushes

in that kinda order, also how good are your front shocks, you will want to control your damping and re bound. Stiffer springs will knock out worn shocks in no swift order.

lol i didnt mean tie rod ends, spherical rod ends, google it. its pretty much a metal bushing, no deflection. and i would find a set of 15" or 16" rims with the offset you need/ want for what you want your car to do.

camber bolts are special bolts with an offset yolk, that replace one of the bolts that secure your strut to hub. When you fit one, you can, by adjusting the the posistion of the bolt, add negative camber to the suspension.

They are failru cheap to purchase, I paid about £17.00 for a pair.

you will need help to set them up properly, but they are a great little mod.
