I've seen lots of racercars with strut tower braces on them, and quite a few after a crash. 90% of the ones I've seen with crash damage, the strut towers hadn't moved nearly as much as the body work around it. In fact we ran a home built brace on my old Nissan racer, and it made a huge difference in the front stiffness of that car. That car had a fairly weak uni-body for a frontdrive car, so without the brace, camber/caster/toe settings would change as the chassis flexed during a race!

    racerb

When my GT met its untimely end, everything ahead of the strut towers was bent about 1/2-1 inch to the left, but the strut towers, and everything behind them, hadn't budged. Huzzah for strut tower braces.

hey i was just wondering which part number you ordered, whiteline part number. i went to their site cuz raptor is down rebuilding theirs. they list fwd celica 86-87 and awd celica 85-89 so i am trying to figure out which parts to get for my fwd 89. thanks!

nm i figured it out. no tower bar listed for fwd. so now i am wondering if the ani sway bars and the tower bars from the awd model will be ok on my 89 gt-s. thanks!

Alltrac front tower bars work fine. Doubt the rear anti-roll bar will, the Alltrac had a different suspension setup in the rear because of the differential and driveshafts. Unless you meant rear tower bar as well. Those should be the same also.

i emailed raptor bout the parts so we will see. think the fwd ones would be ok if the awd dont work out. want to get the tower bars for sure though. yay!

Suspension is the same between the Alltrac and the FWD Celicas. Nothing changed/moved in the suspension dept. between both models. Just the gas tank and some of the interior items.

but the sway bars are different to clear drivetrain. also stock GTS rear sway bars don't need to be upgraded. they are just about right for the car. alltracs need the rear bar upgraded but not the FWDs

so i got quoted at $606.00 for both tower bars and sway bars. i shouldnt get the rear one though? would the front be a good investment or should i just get the tower bars. thanks guys!

Why wouldt you get the rear one?

The stock GT-S rear sway bar is about as perfect as it can get. Buying an aftermarket one is wasted money.

Whiteline. They make strut bars and sway bars.

Sr5 was asking to confirm that he didn't need the rear sway bar, I'm pretty sure.

wait a minute. who did you talk to about that? on the first page of this thread Chuckanut has pictures of both tower bars being on his 86 gt-s i believe. if it was George, then he told me that the sway bars are different but i could still get the strut tower bars. no way that the strut placement/housing was different between 86-87 and 88-89 on gt4 and fwd... and just so i am clear...should i look into getting the front anti sway bar or is that moot too?

Moot. The stock GT-S sway bars are as good as you could hope for. (check the sticky "How to make your 4g handle" @ top of page)

Your model is ST162 right? If so according to Whitelines application guide it will NOT fit.
