i have a 88 gts 3sge enine. my radiator fan keeps running even if the engine is cold. as soon as i put the number 1 fan relay in the fans will stay on till i pull it. im also having problems retreving codes. when i jump the wires my light just blinks constintly.thats the least of my problems right now tho. i need to figure out the fans this is my dayly car.i dont want to streight wire the fans.but if no one cant help me then thats what im gona have to do. plz any sugestion is helpful. ive replaced the radiator and fans so there good i know.ive also checkd the thermostat sending unit its fine and ive replaced the thermostat.ive changed all the fan relays. whats weard is the motor can be cold and it will still thurn the fans on ive even tried taken ever relay and fuse out for the fans and then put only the number 1 fan relay back in and it will instantly kick the fan on. if any one can help or knows whats going on plz let me know.

Switch on the ignition, the fans are running,
Pull the connector from the sensor on the thermostat and ground the wire somewhere like the alt bracket, head.

If the fans go off its the thermostat sensor or connector
If the fans stay on it's a wiring f/up

    ps. delete the 2nd thread

id run your wiring then, sounds like a short to ground, and the blinking lights are your codes. it will go through every code your car throws. on board diagnostics one (obd1) simply is shit. record the flashes to find out what codes it throws, go from there.

i know how to read the codes dude its not throwing a blinking code. what it is doing is blinking on and off really fast none stop no pause whatso ever if everythings fine spoce to be a blink pause and a blink. well aint getn nothn like that just a bunch of really fast blinks and these no code for that.man iv got a haynes repair manual for the car ive ran true all the sensors and relays it listed and ive chekd wireing too like it said and still haveing the problem.

check any pin on the ecu associated with the cooling system. start with thw go from there, your looking for blown resistors. or actually cut apart the harness and look at the wiring with a multimeter handy. get a competent scanner and start doing system by system tests.

I know this is a long shot but it happens...

Lift the wires going over the head next to the cam cover.
Sometimes the plastic casing chafes away and the wires are exposed and short on the the cam cover.
