So i picked up my 87' Celica GT hatch couple months ago but havent really done alot on it so i didnt wanna start a project thread till it became interesting haha...well hopefully i get my motor today from a fellow member an figure this would be the best time if any to start one lol. So the background on the car; i picker her up for $1200 an she was pretty stock minus some old american racing wheels an ebaich springs in the front Well the first thing i did was rob my Sub (quinn audio 12")/Amp (sony 1000w)/headunit (JVC) from my old rig an put them in an also got some 4" no name speakers for the rear (SO MUCH WATER IN THE SPEAKER BOXES!! Haha) Random Badass picture lol We'll i knew i was gonna do a swap eventually but i figured it wouldnt hurt to put a short ram on the tired FE cuz it wasnt too exspensive lol So one day inwas workin with a buddy on his rig an we got on the subject of shifter knobs, well he mentioned he had an old piston out of a big lawn mower he had an we decided to turn into a shift knob...well an ass ton of soder fill an a polishing later (this thing is like 7lbs haha) This is where we start to get exspensive haha...wanted some new feet an wanted somethin that wasnt common haha (got the new 2013 enkie comp classis (16x5) an some brand new rubber, also got some front end work done at schwabies (at this point ive officially spent more on the car then i paid for it hahahaha) After that i get a good deal on some 4" kicker speakers so i put them in the front...i gave my lil bro my old ones cuz they were still good...the ones in his 88" corolla...well...ill let the picture speak for itself haha Next came paint!!! Haha Didnt turn out to bad haha (oh yea an i got some fogs too)
A badass post paint job picture So i found these seats on good ol craigslist haha (no name seats, but sparco rails haha) got board so i decided to fix/paint my lip...got some garden mesh fencing an cut it to fit in the lower lip an i also ziptied the three lip pieces togather cuz they kept poppin' apart thats about it for now...but like i said, My GTE is being loaded up as i type haha...props to scott jackson for helpin' a fellow celly man haha...big plans commin for this car of mine including that GTE (coils, custom body work, new paint, custom 185 GT4 esk fog light setup, custom hood, lots more an an empty wallet haha
Paint job turned out nice, like the wheels too  Look forward to seeing the progress on this one
Great work you've done!!!The paint looks really good and the wheels :drool5 looks so badass!!! Looking forward to see the GTE in!!!
Thanks for all the compliments guys! figured id kinda let ya in on my build plan an get some opinions...so im gonna send the block in to get cleaned an punched out .40 an have my crank turned n re-balenced an have my head comeatly rebuilt an port n polished also...gonna rebuild the turbo that came with it an basicly replace all my internals...bigger injectors (what size should it get?) an then a chip (again wat would be best) and a tune
How did the internals on that engine look? I never had a chance to tear it down. Hopefully all goes well for you...I dont know about any chips that actually work with these engines however MegaSquirt has got a good stand alone EMS for fairly cheap. http://www.diyautotune.com/catalog/...r-the-9092-toyota-mr2-celica-3sgte-p-518.html or they have one you can build yourself for even less (if your good at electronics) http://www.diyautotune.com/catalog/diypnp-nippon-denso-76pin-unassembled-kit-p-384.html also were you able to find a rebuild kit for that turbo? I will try and get back to you this weekend about any forgotten parts that are in my garage. Keep us updated man!
Havent gotten to far into it yet, but i pulled the oil pan an the engine deffinetly had beer rebuilt like you said, the crank was balced an the rods are stamped
Toyota ECU's can't be chipped, but it should be possible to run a piggyback fuel controller or similar if you don't want to go to a standalone ecu
not too far away.......about 5 hours or so.......check out the spokane toyota owners club on facebook. also theres a show in tacoma every year i try to go to.
So today i was able to get the block stripped down to the crank, harmonic balencer an a few plugs, hopefully gonna get it stripped down the restbof the way, clean it off an send the block n crank off to get punched/honed/magnafluxed and turned/balanced
