Well my 86 celica has a problem.. i put in some fuel injector cleaner in and started it up.. i drove for a little adn it jsut shut off on me.. now it wont stay running.. it wil tuen over and sputter but it quickly dies.. donno whats wrong. is it possible my injectors went bad or something..and help will be appreciated.. thanks
i think the fuel pressure is fine.. if not how do i fix that.. i still need to check the codes.. i just read it a little ago to find out how to do that..
I would have to check my 86 bgb, but Im 99% sure the 3sfe and 2s check codes are the same. Something simple to check out. Take a look at your distributor cap and rotor. Make sure they look good and/or your coil has a good connection to the cap.
well i kinda put teh injector claener in like a 3/4 tank of gas.. is it possible the when that stuff stated to burn it failed my plugs.. do to the bad mixture?
probably not.... these car's will run on 3 cylinders...so if one of your plugs or injectors went she should still run.... Is your check engine light on?
well.. thats the weird thing.. i have no check engine light. well it didnt right before it died.. and it wont stay started long enought to show a CEL. and the bulb isnt burnt out b/c it lights up when i'm cranking the car.. i'm totally lost..
Well if you can't even get it started to check the code then there's something major (and hopefully, obvious) wrong... Fuel, Fire, and Air So could be fuel pressure, spark, or your possibly AFM (air flow meter)... If your AFM isn't connected at all (that's the box where your air filter sits) then the engine will start, but die right away, so that sort of sounds like your problem... You can test the AFM with an Ohmmeter...I believe there's a writeup in the howto section... Let me know if that helps!
yeah that afm kinda makes scense.. i unplugged it earlier that day.. i pluged it in and drove it adn thats when it died on me..but i dont see why it worked for like 10 mins then died
Maybe the connector's fucked? Take a look and see if any of the connectors broke or something...and make sure it's pushed on good! At least it's easy enough to test with an Ohmmeter anyway.... Hmm...I can't find the DIY for it on here...its on my desktop computer I'll upload it next week sometime....unless someone on here has it and they can do it faster but I'm movin tommorow so it might be a week or two until you see me around again...
well this is what i found out today.. i checked the codes.. i have no bad codes.. when i tried to start it i got nothing.. when i left the paper clip in to check the codes it started but only ran for like 2 seconds.. and when i tried to give it gas it bogged out and died.... so i have no codes.. and since it starts i know i am getting fuel and spark..so i dont know i'm lost.
ok went to test it again.. now i think i know whats wrong.. someone correct me if i'm wrong.. so when it sits for a little it will start but when i give it gas it shuts off.. so i'm thinking the cold start fuel thing get its started but my injectors arnt working.. so that is what i think.. and what cc are the injectors for 2s-3 engine.. i have some 190cc injectors from my honda. didnt know if i could make them work or somthing..
I would say its highly unlikely that ALL of your injectors are bad. It sounds like the ECU is seeing something it doesnt like and stopping fuel OR the soleniod resistor for the injecotrs is bad OR you dont have power coming from the igition switch to the solenoid resistor OR it still could be your fuel pump and/or associated circuitry.
well it starts and if i give it a little gas i can hold it at like 3500rpm.. but like 5 sceonds into it it dies out.. pushing the throttle wont save it.. it just dies out
Do you have a BGB/Toyota shop manual? If not goto www.celicatech.com and you can view it online. I would start checking into your injector circuits. Because it sounds like the Cold Start Injector is working properly, however your other injectors are not firing.
yeah well it starts when you pump the gas before turning the ingnition.. so i dont know what that could be.
