Battery relocation to trunk

Discussion in 'Electronics' started by silentsnow31802, Mar 5, 2009.

  1. So my car needs a battery, I thought to myself... why not relocate it to the trunk while im at it so I went looking for kits. I found a few on summit that I like. I was looking at sealed, plastic kits. One had a 4 gauge and one was a 1 gauge wire.

I would like to know what you guys think... do I need 1 gauge wire? Is sealed and plastic a good idea? Car is a daily driver so I thought plastic would be better, and sealed so I didnt have to buy a sealed battery. Speaking of would I have to run a vent from the battery box to the outside of the car if not running a sealed battery?

Here are the two I was looking at....

hell im using 2 under for my relocation...(-2g)....1g would be more than enough for your car. imo a sealed aluminum box it the way to be...

  3. Why aluminum? Plastic dont conduct electricity... i like the sound of that.

And holy crap -2G wtf.... thats quite the wire...

the connectors are insulated so they dont short the battery out, and yeah, im beeeeefing my wiring up, i replaced the charge system 10g wiring with overkilled 6g....

  5. Nice... I wouldnt mind doing that one day but not anytime soon. Must be nice seeing it all new and upgraded huh?
