First off an apology, I ran outta time to get the car graphics done for the first event.

I had two issues that would not go away before the first event and it took all my time.

My inlet manifold gasket blew and then my master cylinder started leaking, on top of all the other stuff I was doing  so the graphics got missed, but they will be done ASAP.

Right first event of the year.

There where two 4th gens entered, myself and a guy called Adam in his sweet St165. Adam was a guest in the event as he is not doing the full season where as I am a full contender for the whole series.

Some pictures to set the scene.

The track was an old airfield and it was really bumpy, muddy and the conditions were awful, driving wind and heavy rain, just the thing for motorsport.

Adams smart 165, it runs 261bhp at 11psi and similar suspension to mine, his big advantage over me was his great big 4 pot AP racing brake set up, I was very jealous

The course was marked out with cones which made it tricky, as hit one and your run was void.

    Few other cars.

The day started okay for me, my tyres struggled with the mud and wet conditions and I was a few seconds off the pace.
I spun on one run which did not help either.

In the afternoon, the rain stopped and I could generate some heat and grip from the tyres.

I really struggled with poor brakes again, and lost out under braking to my class competitors, but my FMIC and handling allowed me to stay in the hunt.
I finished 23rd out of 41cars and 14th in class, which was a lot more competive than my first outing last year.

Adam and me had a great battle, but in the end his big brakes and more track driving experience told and he beat me by 0.60 of a second to finish 19th and 10th in class.

Next event is May 4th where I hope to fix my brakes and run the logo proudly!

    Update from Round 2.

The track was the same as the first event last year, so my first goal was to beat my old time of 63.49.

The weather was cold and overcast, and track temps were affected by some light rain. But the event went really well for me.

I will post some pictures and hopefully vids up, but wanted to share the results!

My most competive showing so far by miles!!!!!!!!!!!!!  :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

In the morning I was 4th fastest in class and something like 8 or 9th overall, but I just could not get quicker than my fastest run in the morning.

But 60.806, 60.903, 61.036 at least prove I was consistant. we tried swapping suspension settings and trye pressures, but if anything i think I was moving away from the best set up.

But overall 19th out of 53, and an amazing 8th out of 18 A2 entrants, beating many bigger power stripped out later gt4s!! :D

    Man I am so happy

well i went over the vid. specifically looking for your car. your braking was great. it didn't look like any of you guys really launched from the start minus the black st185 but that could be the fact that i'm not there watching. also looked like the only guys who were turning at the right speed were the RWD vehicles. not one of the AWD vehicles dug the turns hard enough. again could be because it's a video. but it looks great.

Yeah, he missed a couple of hard launches by me, but got a few better on a longer vid that I will try and cut bits from.

The track was funny, it was really super smooth and gave great grip, up to a point, and then it started to spit with rain, which I admit knocked my confidence levels, I run different tyres to most, a lot are on R888s which are softer than my Yokohamas, and as soom as the track got greasey I started to slow in the corners.

I am learning so much about track driving, but I am trying to make sure I have my hraking done before corners so I can get the best exit speed.

Advice and feedback most welcome , cheers

just reviewed with sound. both 4th gens need better tires :p
the black 205 looked best to me!

damn do they do that here?

The black 205 with the white door stickers finished 3rd overall behind the Fensport car and the white Mr2 turbo.

The tyres you are prob right, the white 165 runs goodyear F1s, I will keep with my yokos though, as they are cheap. £50 per cormer compared to the the choice Toyos R888 being £120 per corner.

Its great fun, sure you guys must have something similar over there?

    Hi all.

    Round 3 update.

This was at proper circuit, called Teeside Autodrome. Very fast, with gradients, off camber corners and high speed stuff, a proper track.
The celica was only back and running on Friday night, before the long drive up on Saturday, with my nerves constantly worried about further over heating.
We got there and everything was fine, although, the ignition timing was out a little so I knew we were down on power.

The paddock area was cramped, so it was all a little hectic with 53 drivers!

The first two runs were okay, but I had a huge moment going into a right hand turn at about 60mph, I totally missed the apex and went so wide almost running out of track and hitting the barriers.

So frustrated with those runs I got even more cross when it the rain came and a heavy down pour left the track soaking wet. I still went out, but with little grip from my super soft track tyres in the rain, I was a bit off the pace.

The later runs, towards the darkness were okay, ( the racing started at 4pm and went on till 10pm) but the combination of a lack of power and my failure to get to grips with the track saw me finish off the pace. :(
I was 11th and last in my class and 35th overall...but after initially being down, I have cheered up a bit. I cannot expect to win them all or have a good day at each round. the competition is getting better, the rev 3 MR2s turbos are now starting to really show their pace, and many of the drivers are really improving.

Anyhow, the car had the sponsor ship from the local tuners showing, but the rest of the graphics I still need to do

Still the car looked good, even if the driver was a bit rubbish on the day ;)
