A great new concept has sprung up over here, http://adlracing.omegahost.co.uk/Docs/TSSInvitation.doc Toyota Sprint Series, dedicated to fast toyotas!! Name is down, and entry list has a few scary fast cars on it, 400bhp Corolla,  370bhp st185  600bhp St205    So dont expect little old me to bring home a trophy for 4th gens, but I will have fun! Will have to get my graphics sorted now, so couple of site logos need to be purchased!!! Will get it all on film for you guys touch wood. Entry list is limited to 60 cars, so we get a full days racing!! Can you tell Im excited LOL 8)
Yeah Fensport with the 400bhp rolla and the 600bhp St205, so no chance of me beating them LOL TBH I cannot wait, last did competitive motorsport 10 years ago, so to havethe chance again, even if it is small scale is great! My main goal is as you say to have fun, but also as its timed, to be able to push the car that bit harder than a normal track day. Also the cost element for us in the UK is great, normally a days racing could cost between $200 - $400. Could we not just fly over Nemesis for the day?? lol 8)

Awesome. I would love to get into some amateur racing, but there is literally nothing here, apart from drag racing. Lame.
for those who have no experience in drag. it's much harder than you could imagine. in any vehicle. damn that looks like fun.
Well I am back from the first event, wow it was great fun. The track was very tight and technical, perhaps suiting the lighter more nimble cars better, certainly the Mr2s ran very well. I had a problem all day with a "soft" brake pedal, which really did not help me into the faster corners, however I was still very pleased with the out come. I improved my from my first run of 69.65 sec to 63.64sec by the end. This was still some way off the fastest in class wich was 56.45. Compared to most cars, Trinity was still very much in road car trim, with a full interior and only one set of wheels and tyres. My closest competitor was a 185 running 300bhp+ with a motec and front mount, he too had road trim and only the one set of road tyres. He finished with a 62.76 time so I was less than one second off him. Overall I was 30th out of 36 cars and 13th out of 15 in class, so I did not set the world on fire, however as my first event and the first time I had driven the car in real anger, I was pleased. If I had found another 1 - 1.5sec I would have improved to 21st overall and 7th in class it was that tight! The car ran well apart from the brakes, but I really do need to get my ebc working, as without it I am only at 1bar and 250bhp, I also need to get rid and manage heat in the engine bay better, as there is a lot of idling and waiting for your runs which means higher latent engine temps. I may part strip the interior for next year too, but do not want to move the car too much away from a road car. This is a very short vid of the day, I will post more pictures when I get them http://www.4shared.com/file/27073694/a4 ... d=cfded802
Willy, I never said drag racing was easy, I just don't see the appeal of going nuts fast for a few seconds in a straight line when you could be going fast through corners.
What part of Virginia do you live in, cause you've got Summit Point just over the border in West Virginia, you've got Virginia International Raceway just outside of Danville, and theres a new track being built near Williamsburg. Also there are several sportscar clubs around the state, including NASA, SCCA, and even the Tidewater Sportscar club around Hampton Beach area. racerb
Hey man, are the events your running considered Auto-xing or Time-Trials, or as SCCA categorized them SOLO 2 or SOLO 1 events? Here in the States we can Auto-x our street cars, but in order to compete in Solo 1/Time -Trials, the car usually requires some sort of rollbar or cage, plus other safety gear. racerb 8)
Middle of Nowhere, about 30 minutes from Charlottesville. I'd just like to do some amateur stuff, something that doesn't cost much to enter, and I don't care if I win. Mostly I'm looking for a place to have fun without the risk of tickets, or crashing into trees, cars, people...
86GTMonkey-- Willie and I are talking about having a meet at Summit Point at some point next year to run our cars around it. They do offer a 'Run what you brung' days I know I wanna do it.
Man I bet that was exciting- Did you have any issues with torque steer our tire hopping in the rear??
