Okay what gen for 5sfe is the best block to mate with a 3sgte head? what car did the block came out of too? never liked the 5sfe but now i am going to need it for my build. lol, i thought i find the answer quicker here and you guys probably got more experience with it too. :D

the 5sfe came in the 5th gen celica, and camry of that year. imo i would not even bother, your going to have to change the rods and pistons to cope with the boost, and a 5sfe has like a 10+:1 compression ration, add a turbo it it goes to like 14:1 which means exploding engine syndrome. if you were to ask me, the reason people do the 5sgte is for the extra .2l (200cc) which makes it an undersquare engine, and be made more for torque than hp. if i were you and wanted the .2l more, just get a stroker kit for a gte i know jun makes one.

actully the 5sfe, I was told so do not bit my head off people from a professional race engine builder. That it is a stronger block than the 3sge or 3sgte. Is also prefer if your aiming for a high hp outcome. I was never really interested in this block. Now I am cause i'm looking for reliability and power. :D

i dont know much about the 5s, but the gte is a square engine, same bore and stroke. making it oversquare, bigger bore than stroke is for hp gain, doing the opposite is undersquare for a torque gain. he/she may have had luck with it, if you throw thousands into a metro engine it would humiliate lots. but the high compression, and stock internals tend to melt with anything more than like 5psi of boost. and i KNOW that the stock gte crank can hold up to 500hp and not explode. this is just my opinion, but numbers dont lie.

a question - GE vs FE

The blocks are almost identical, it's whats inside that counts.
    viewtopic.php?f=32&t=3971

FE components are not designed to handle more stress - do so at your own risk.
There are several FE gens but the differences are mainly cams and aesthetics.
Biggest difference was Gen1 had a six bolt crank, gen2+ (91-) has eight bolts

you need to look at stroker setups for the 5s block. the 5s block is stronger than all GTE blocks minus the gen 1.

on here i keep on hearing that the 1gen block is the strongest yet when i get on alltrac.net they trash me cause that what i said and yup everyone on there disagree. :( btw i was told from a shop to use a 5s block is better and more power than a 3s block.

of course the 5s block makes more power it has more displacement!
you do have to remember over at at.net 85% of them are gen 2 guys. there are not that many gen 1 guys and even less of us that build them.

it sound like each forum have there matter of choice and since im here is 1st and your right guys on alltrac mainly have 2nd gen so each are going to support whatever they build but the realistic thing is the 5s as I have been told by professional shops to choice that route but thanks guys :D

How much power are you building for? realistically? for what purpose? :?:

On lots of forums I visit people become obsesed with chasing power figures, and tunning places all get loads of money by fueling this and doing lots of people out of cash.

Its your cash and your time, but if you are building a 500bhp+ mega machine, then go for the best of the best, as otherwise its pointless. If you are going to do a big build, then with the greatest respect, you need to do a lot of proper hard research, and understand what it will take to: 1, get the power, 2, sustain the power, 3 use the power.
I know off 5 big power dyno gt4s, all ran well over 450bhp, all since either broken, or broken up for spares, the only happy people, the tuners and parts suppliers. Total spent prob well over £170,000 by the 5 owners in total. Thats in one year.

Please dont take this as a negative post, but from reading your topics etc, it just looks like you are chasing goals and are liable to waste a lot of money. ( its your cash so tell me to shut it, if you want, but I see this type of situation time and time again )

your right what you said is true. As for me i am looking to build a alltrac non have seen, is hard and i want to be able to open the doors that toyota have locked up. I believe that the celica stand beyound what people think they do. maybe i am searching for respect, maybe i am searching to build a one of a kind wonder :D as for now im asking question to understand the car better as if i read what others has written i get lost in their writtings. so for now i want to experience for my own to see what they are writting about. beside I already got a srt10 ram lol so no worries on having a fast ride ;)
