5sge

Discussion in '3sge' started by BaronvonOttobat, Jul 10, 2014.

  1. Hi all, I'm new to this forum although I've been on ToyotaNation for a while now. I'm looking into building a 5SGE using a '00 5SFE block. I've found an '87 cylinder head fairly close by with the distributor for $100. What else do I need besides head, intake setup, and ecu?

  2. I picked up the cylinder head, intake, throttle body, AFM, engine harness, and ECU (basically everything above the head gasket) for $275.

I picked up another 2.2 crank for $40 as the one that came with the '00 block was no good.

I've broken down the harness down to the minimum for the ECU and will have to add in my factory SV21 harness to finish it up once the old engine is pulled out.

Add a turbo and make a 5sgte lol jk I'm not sure what else you would need as I've never done t this before. I'm interested to see how it turns out though. Are you doing this for more power?

  4. The 93 Celica 2.2 that I put in my '88 Camry spun a bearing so I decided to build an engine for it. The plan was to build up a 5SFE to its maximum but as my cylinder head is warped and the head on the '00 Camy engine I bought is unusable I decided that since I would need one anyway that I'd go with a 3SGE head on the 2.2 block. I don't want to turbo which is why the pistons that are going to have to be made will be 11:1. The extra piping, tuning, oil worries, and additional custom parts has me staying away from that for now.
