wait a minute. a ge trans works with all ge parts. you should be able to straight swap transmissions. that's it. done. edit: noticed you have an auto and going to stick. you'll need: fwd celica shifter cables and clutch pedal assembly and hydrolics and shifter assembly (any fwd celica) i have a few of these parts for the beams transmission...3sge flywheel, clutch kit. iirc the motor mounts are different, you'll need both torque mounts and a 3sge non auto ecu

somehow use the exhaust side starter on a transmission that uses the starter on the transmission side with a different sized gear?

Mar'c thanks on the information I never knew that the s53 would just spin with high Hp,for the starter still don't see how would my same starter work,the hole thing I under stand all that and mounting it but what is a puzzle for me once stater mounted will the bendix reach the ring gear to spin it round it look's so far away.I will be looking for a E15x gearbox in anyway's will it also be a perfect fit or is there mod's to be made.
i'm not too sure on the e boxes, i believe mafix, stig, redrocket are the names i can think of that can provide you with more info.
i'm still not convinced with stigs findings. i believe he might have something weird going on there. i've never encountered his issue. from what we have in north america: 3sge/gte/5sfe = same flywheel for some reason these are all the same. as long as they are 8 bolt. but i have NEVER seen a 6 bolt ge. 3sfe = unique flywheel 6 bolt 3sge/5sfe = unique clutch kit the lower geared "s" trans. different spine than the high gear. 3sfe = unique clutch kit the high geared "s" trans. i do however suspect that this has the same spline as the "c" trans. 3sgte = unique clutch kit "e" series trans. all "e" series share the same spline. larger disk than the rest every single starter is the same for all fwd/awd. they have different kW ratings but they all work.
i'm referring to stigs pictures because i've found the same thing. when i took off my 3s-ge s53, the 8-bolt 1st gen 3s-ge flywheel is SMALLER than the 8-bolt st202 5S-FE/3S-FE/GTE. no one is talking about a 6-bolt version of anything. well heres the mock up which should work, beams red top flywheel, starter from 1991 sw20, going on st162 with 1st gen 3sge
I don't think that's LSD, an LSD typically has 4 pinion gears, ie 2 of those shafts. The Beams flywheel fits the S54 and starter - however it will not fit your gen1 crank, for that you need an FE flywheel which looks identical to that flywheel you have
This was the same issue I ran into when converting my GTS, the JDM tranny in my car came drilled for both exhaust side and tranny side starter mounting. The problem was same as you've discovered, the GE flywheel has 115 tooth ring gear while the FE flywheel has 120 teeth. My solution was to get a flywheel from a '90 Camery and now it all goes togather and works perfectly. You can get the flywheel from Rock Auto for like $45 made by Sachs and then order a Exedy clutch kit for the GTS also from Rock Auto for around $200. racerb :science
What I mean is that the Gen2- GE/GTE cranks/flywheel and flywheel bolts are different Don't believe me? ask Fernandocelica This is the Gen1 GTE flywheel I used to solve the problem The holes are hard to spot but the bolts are way different on the later cranks & flywheels
I will have a quite clear answer about the LSD phenomenon, as sadly mine has some problems and is getting replaced these days. Once I get the car back, and the diff in my hands, I'll make some pics.
