From memory, your car looked pretty mint, especially for a a Canadian car, fix it! Be a shame to see it go. If you like the car, or love it, do it. I miss my old car
i got my 162 over ebay rather cheap with blowen headgasket. replaced that and did the bigend the day i got it registed was cheaper to replace than rebuild. since getting an import 3s-ge i have had no real problems. i have had a few electrical problems but i am sorting them out althogh i do have a nasty rattle/knock in the front end when i go over uneven road.(i have replaced the front shocks) other than those problems i find it a fun car to drive.
after crashing my 95 cavalier(2.2...) this was the first car i went to see and instantly fell in love. started out as a stereo car that i made look pretty good for at least one season until i hit some problems and had to stop for a while. still have it in decent looking shape and runs amazing. ive owned it for 3 years approximately, parked for 2 of the winters and put 90k on it. never once driving it nicely and its help up amazingly. as for repairs valve cover gaskets, an alternator, clutch slave cylinder, cv axles, front rotors and pads all around, struts(didnt really need them) and i really think that is all. still needs strut mounts and control arm bushings and leaks oil a bit but w/e its been an awesome car and considering i had a turbo sprint for 10k kms and it completely fell apart i cant get away from toyotas, it still drives tight and quick and comfrotable as shit. i have learnt everything i know about cars basically from this car and this site and have yet to touch a mechanic for the 3 years ive owned it. would recommend one to anybody! oh and once i get my job situation sorted out ill try once more to get it looking nice again oh and for some reason, the girls love it haha
