Whats the deal with Yamaha anyways ? Toyota own them or something ?

The car on the right (white/blue hood) is a Toyota 2000GT probably the rarest toyota ever built with 351 being made in a 3 year span between 1967-1969....very cool car put toyota on the map for sports cars actually manufactured at a yamaha plant

yeah i thought because toyota didnt make motorbikes ( or do they ) ,
so theyd have another company aka yamaha to build bikes ,
but yeah i was wondering about yamaha heads lol , i
ts a shame you cant see the yamaha sign until you look right down the side of the cam gear cover

no Toyota does not own Yamaha, they just have worked closely together on a bunch of projects. it helps to bring the cost down for both companies and normally produces a better product since you have the resources of two companies. this idea is also seen in things like the matrix and Pontiac vibe. both are built on the corolla chassis with the same engine just body panels are different. same thing can be said with Mitsubishi and the Chrysler brands. GM is actually the original company that helped Toyota break into the US market so many years ago.

The place I see it is on the TVIS

BTW these TVIS units like to loose their butterfly valves so if you have the intake manifold off check to see if you still have 4 butterfly valves. Also check to make sure the 2 bolts holding each butterfly valve in place are tight and if necessary loctite the bolts

    YAMAHA connection

The Yamaha connection needs to be mentioned: Yamaha developed the Toyota 2000GT and was a Toyota partner in the design of most Type G heads. Most engines/heads, including the 3SGE/3SGTE (now in it's 4th generation), the Previa specific 2TZFE/Z (no relation to the old T engines), and the newest 2ZZGE engines were and are still designed and cast by Yamaha. Yamaha also assembles most of the Toyota G model engines.

(The 4AGE and 2JZGE heads are proprietary Toyota designs and manufacture, although many components are still made and supplied by Yamaha).
