    Hey there ST162!

I've havent posted much here since im mostly on newcelica.org modding my 7th gen, but recently I have decided to keep my 89 ST (which was my first car) and fix her up with my old man. She's in decent shape and just need some new parts.

The car vibrates badly when its in reverse so im guessing the motor mounts are shot. Does anyone know of any good websites where i can order motor mounts? And how many of them will i need to order?

We plan on replacing the struts because there are very worn out (most likely factory still). Any good sites where i can order all 4 struts? Lowering her would be nice too. I came across these:

    Will these fit the car?

My last question is regarding the rear lip spoiler. My ST is the coupe body an has a regular trunk, but the car has a lip style spoiler like this:

My car didnt come with one, is this something i can order somewhere?

Ill do my best to contribute on this forum as well. Thanks guys and gals ;)

    Welcome back on the site!

for motor mounts, the most likely the front and rears are the culprit
if you have standard trans, you have two options, get polyurethane replacements or oem rubbers
    - poly: http://speed-source.net/?wpsc-product=toyota-engine-mounts
it says 4 bushings, but that's good for 2, 4 halves of the 2 mounts front and back. it makes for more engine vibration felt inside the car, but they're pretty much a permanent fix.
    - rubber: rockauto.com part number A7220 and A7252
if you have auto trans, the rears are the same as the standard trans, but the fronts are different.

those B&G springs fit, i have them and so do many others on the site.

    struts:
    - oem replacement: KYB GR-2; they're $50/piece on rockauto.com
    - adjustable fronts: kyb ag-x are $85/piece (rears need modding to fit adjustables)
i have ag-x fronts and gr-2 rears. great street set up.

as for the spoiler, you have to find one at a scrapyard as there are no reproduction ones. beware that the hatchback ones are different from the coupe ones and do not interchange. iirc, only the side pieces of the 3 piece lip spoiler are interchangable, but don't take my word for it cuz i'm not sure

You are the man! Thanks for the response! I would just like to confirm a few things with you.

I have an auto trans, so the two mounts im looking to order would be
    #A7220 for the rear and
    #A7203 for the front

As for the struts, rockauto has both GR-2 rears but nothing for the front. The only struts i see for the fronts dont look like the ones on the car right now. Do the front and back use the same struts? My 2000 celica has smaller struts in the back so this is whats causing the confusion lol

    I appreciate the help man.

the site that is selling those springs to amazon is the same place that i called and they cant get them, so if you order them they will prolly cancel your order....trying to find springs and cant anywhere!!! let us kno if you buy a set somewhere....

and the front struts are a single cartridge style that you keep the shock housing and pull the cartridge out slide new one in

correct on the front auto mount. (ps. i always hated those square mounts lol)
KYB Part #365064 is the GR2 fronts and the #765015 is the AGX fronts. they look different because they are cartridge inserts. you take your old strut, there's a nut on top of the strut housing and you just empty out the guts and slide the new cartridge in.

you MIGHT get into problems with the cartridges, but mine was an 87 apparently it's different from 88-89.

on the left is the nut that they give you with the cartridges, stock is middle, and as you see, there's that junk in the middle preventing the nut from sliding over the cartridge and the thread pitch is incorrect. so on the right i just machined the originals out to the right size.
hopefully you don't have to do this as you have an 89! but regardless, now that i've done it once, i can replace it with whatever cartridge since it seems no one makes the whole assembly anymore

Awesome! Thanks everyone for the replies. Didn't know the front struts for this car was simpler than i thought. Woiuld have never guessed you slide out the old cartridge and insert the new one. Thanks for the tip on the nut. Hopefully I wont come across any issue with those. I was surprised on how cheap the front mount for the auto trans compared to the manual trans lol. Only $5! Looks like I have all the part numbers I need to place the order. Found a 89 ST at a salvageyard and im gonna go strip its parts on sunday. Ill keep you all update on our progress with the celi!

Thanks again everyone :) Oh on the side note. Is it easy to do the sleepy eye thing for this car? Thats something i'd like to do haha

for sleepy eyes you can stop it when it's flipping down by putting it back onto the first position
