Banzai magazine's December 08 issue features a write on the last round of the Toyota sprint series and I'm in it a little bit!!

"After a heat-stopping opening lap of spins and missed braking points, Richard Morrow in his ST165 Celica GT-4 made huge improvements and settled down to some consistent lap times that eventually put him 5th in class, 11th overall and just 2.3 sec behind the hard-charging Marsh. A set of Toyo R888 tyres was mooted as the saving factor, though everyone was more distracted by his illuminated valve caps"

Simon Marsh in a stripped out 350bhp MR2 was the class winner both in the event and the series overall. So I am well pleased to get closer to him!!

Soo chuffed, not picture, but its just so cool to get a mention, makes the whole season even more worth while!!!

Great job. Shows that hardwork and dedication pays off. btw how are those tires? Good for autox also?

Cheers guys, will scan it in.

Re the R888s, they are very good once you have heat into them, they struggle on short tracks when it is just one lap. and in greasy conditions.

However get them warm, and they are fantastic, bit sudden breakaway though.

I am looking at getting a second set, cut with extra grooves for my wet weather tyres.

The stiffer sidewalls cope far better with all the weight of the 165.

I am not permited to tyre warm before the start in my series, but if you could get some heat into them from the start they would be even better.

    HTH

Two red 165s both racing, both looking good with black rims. I am liking it!!

Thanks for that. Sounds like they are more of a road course tire and not an autox tire. I want to get into road racing my 165 but the suspension and breaks are not up to par for the abuse yet, but im working one it.

Cant beat the black and red combo!
