HI I've had this in the shed a while, starting work on it now.
I got it before it went to the scrap yard, with most of the parts still there. Good interior, pretty good body and paint, good wheels n tyres and so on.

It's an 89 3SGE, i'm hoping to do a stock rebuild and i'll be using an s54 i have in the shed.
It had a blown head gasket and the head was already off. It turns over with 1 finger on the flywheel.

The car needs an engine, seats, sunroof, rust kill and registration, then good suspension and brakes and so on.

Here's the car before I picked it up, it was being parted out - lots of pics

I need to get the flywheel off then put it on the stand.

    That's it for now
    Cheers

    Onto the Stand

Cheers, Matt C from sydney put up the ad for it, it was 10kms from my house :) Good work team.

Cheers for the offer, it's always appreciated. Parts in Perth are expensive, but I have a bunch of spares too so hit me up if you're looking.

The engine is on the stand, taking it apart over this week. The bores are nice and clean, so far so good.

Got the flywheel off with my breaker bar, just bolt a chain from the flywheel to the block.

    Good stuff
Solong as you do a good job and don't cut corners it will be good, this reminds me of how I found TEMS and the work I had to put in.
Parts may look good but remember they are 20yrs+ old.
I have the side logos on file now for when you need them

Hey mate, good luck with the build! the bent side strip I had the exact same problem, if you're after one there is a wreckers down here that has two in perfect condition.
If you can't get a hold of one let me know and I'll grab it for you and post it out

I can't see in the pics, is that the large GT4 type strip?
Got a bunch of guys here crying for those

Thanks guys, it's a challenge alright. I won't be cutting any corners on this one. I would like to put a 3sgte in either car in the future but for now 2 better than stock 162s is my goal.

The suspension/brakes are alright, i want to relicense it then upgrade the whole car.

I'll clean up the s54, I have its starter and block off plate.
After looking around the site, i think I need
    -3sfe/3sgte/5sfe flywheel
    -3sge clutch and pressure plate
-s54 shifter fork and throwout bearing

Stig, The side strip is a normal 162, or i'd have put it on my daily already! I'd like the gt4 strips one day.

Bonzai, I might need a replacement, i'll look around the shed and let you know.

    Cheers

I used S53 fork and throwout on my S54 with S53 clutch & plate on a GT4 flywheel
I since bought a late 5S flywheel which is much lighter than the GTE item

agree with the S53 fork + S53 throwout on the S54.

the reason is that the S54 throwout looks different than the S53 throwout that comes with the 3SGE clutch kit.
