Apologies to everyone esspecially those people tying to get parts from me. It has not been a good summer. My mom has spent a good deal of the last 3 months in 4 different hospitals and I had to spend a couple nights in the emergency department with really bad chest pains a couple of weeks ago. As it stands right now I can't even walk around the outside of my house (maybe 200 feet) without getting chest pains so basically for now I'm doing nothing, I really can't until my moronic doctors figure out whats happening. 3 EKG's - all fine 4 blood tests - all fine 2 Chest X Rays - all fine So my next appointment is tomorrow for a stress test (they told me to bring my running shoes???????) Sometimes I really have to wonder how some of these doctors ever got their license. I mean really they want me to run on a treadmill when they allready know I can't walk 200 feet ? Fuck me I'm screwed with idiots like that in control of my life :nopity So thats my sad story :sad On the bright side if you live in Canada heres a couple tips on how to get seen as quick as possible when you visit the emergency department - get an ambulance to bring you in, my mom allways goes by ambulance and the ambulance attendants are responsible for your health until your seen by a doctor so normally you'll get in ahead of people that walk in so they can get the ambulance back in service - if your walking in complain of chest pains, both nights I was lying on a bed as soon as I said "chest pains" and almost as quickly hooked up to an EKG Of course all that doesn't really help you much if your doctors are morons but maybe you'll get a better doctor, I hope so because I have told you the better of the 2 stories, I seriously think lawsuits should be filed against some of the doctors and nurses that treated my mom. How they can give her medicine she is alergic to when it is clearly documented on her chart is beyond me ? How they can do it 3 times in a week is just moronic especially when they were told each time not to do it again, I even had them highlite that part of the chart and finally made a big poster I stuck on the wall saying "Please don't give my mom hydromorphone" 2 feet by 3 feet that finally put an end to that. So for anybody out there that thinks Canada's health care system is great because it's free for everybody .........you'll soon find out that you get what you pay for so free isn't allways best.
wow Dave...that doesn't sound good at all !! All I can say is that I hope both you and your mom get well soon. And also that they find what you have. I hope you didn't forget to lube the toyota heart . But seriously...get well soon !
Hell yeah, we've missed your input Sounds like you have angina? I'm sure you can sue for shit like that!, people die all the time from silly "mistakes" and the more noise gets made the safer it will become for everyone else My folks are having the same treatment in the UK and believe me you don't wanna get sick in South Africa anymore. Last Time I had to take my own bedding & food and after 1 week walked out after still not having seen a doctor, there you gotta shove an axe thru your brain if you want to be seen or chop off some body parts.
my dad had something similar, except not as bad. he would try to walk to promote healthiness, but everytime he walks for more than a block or so, he'd have a hard time breathing and would have a heaviness in his chest. turns out he's been having silent heart attacks and he had to get an angioplasty to clear out one of his arteries that was blocked 99% hopefully you (hopefully your doctors for that matter) get to the bottom of this! best wishes from across the country dave!
damn dave. i knew you were away but never asked why. that really doesn't sound good. i guess get everything you can checked out
Dave, i really hate to hear this! i hope you get sorted soon, i really do! Its terrible being in pain...
All the best to you and mother Dave. Thanks for making the effort to let us know what's happening. We have a similar situation with a member in the UK. He lost his leg through illness, but is still keeping his Celica. We raised enough money for him to buy a special clutch to convert his Celica for his needs.
Maybe I should have posted this in the diagnosis section instead of general discussion anyways Stig & eNtraxGT88 win the prize, you guys can be my doctor's anytime I'd trust your diagnoses more than I'd trust the 4 out of 5 doctors that diagnosed me. I went in for my stress test on wednesday, was suposed to last 7 minutes and the doctor stoped the test after 2 1/2 minutes had me wheeled down to the intesive care unit and had the plumber put a stent in one of my arteries on friday morning and right away I was better. My arm where they did the procedure hurt a bit afterwards its about a 4 -5 mm cut so whatever diameter needle would fit inside that cut is slid into the main artery. its about 6" long and then they have a hollow tube where they can put a camera or other tools & the stent in through that needle. So thats the only pain I had after the operation and it laster for maybe 12 hours. Sure as hell beats cracking open the rib cage and scavenging a bit of artery from your leg to replace the blockage. End result was left main artery was completly open, middle artery was 90 % blocked and right artery was 50% blocked. They put a stent in the middle artery and will use medication to clear out the right artery. A typical stent like the one they put in me indicated by the "X's" in the above picture That was my condition monday night and tuesday night before I went in for the stress test on wednesday. I would wake up after a few hours of sleep with bad chest pains and have to take a spray of nitro so I would classify that as sudden-onset angina at rest and I had a couple episodes of angina lasting more than 15 minutes even with 6 doses of nitro Should probably be dead right now but luckilly I was smart enough to ignore the first 4 doctors and tell my boss their was no way I could continue working until I got rid of the pains. Tough thing to do I have worked for him for at least 10 years and is the best boss I ever had and I know this is increasing his workload dramatically because his company is very small so he can't spread the workload out over a bunch of different workers and he's guaranteed to have all mt contracts available for me when I am able to go back to work, but in all the time I have worked for him I have never refused any job he wanted me to do. So it works both ways he's a great boss and I'm a great sub contracter and he knows he can allways count on me to get the job done. Hopefully he has other sub contracters he can count on now for a couple of months.
Glad you got it sorted, I know because we had a similar problem here with a family member and they went for tests & died in the ward but a pacemaker fixed that Stop worrying about work - they will cope somehow What's your cholesterol level?, mine = 7,9 - doc says I'm a walking corpse:eek5
dave im so happy to hear that your on the mend , i really am! and the sooner i see some stunning photos of your car the better!
Hey all, just saw this thread now, haven't been on the boards lately. Glad to hear you're on the mend Dave. Doctors are just like any other profession ; you get some good and some bad. Glad the bad ones didn't kill you. Take care and all the best to you and your mom.
Glad to hear it was caught before it was deadly. A few years back I went through a wicked bout with migraines and chest pain. To this day I don't know what the root cause is. I'm on a reactive mix of 3 migraine drugs when I feel one coming on. Fortunately, I haven't had one for at least 6 months now (knocks on wood). We know all about the blocked arteries though, her late grandfather's late wife passed away after complications from trying to unclog some arteries.
Just read this thread, been gone for a while. Hope everything from here just gets better. Stay on it.:cheers2
I hope you are both feeling better What worries me is the number of "regulars" is dwindling rapidly and it would be interesting to see just how many of the 500 odd members have actually posted in the last year. My grandmother (who was 96) once told me "Getting old isn't for sissies" I always thought it was some kinda joke but recently I'm starting to get what she meant.
