The 86 ST and GT had the 2se, in north america anyways. The GT had power options as its benifit over the ST, for all of the model years. Like power mirrors, electronic climate control, probably the option of cruise and AC weren't available on the ST as well, not too sure. The two models always had the same mechics though.

The model names are different in Japan, Europe and elsewhere. I have a Tamiya model kit of a 86-87 Celica 2000GTR, and that was only available in Japan as far as I know. But it would be the same car as our GT-S or your SX.

I've seen pics of celicas from africa I think it was, or maybe south america that had old tercel or corolla motors with carbs. Might have been the 4ac. Or that crappy 12 valve tercel motor.

Sterling - You don't have the 2nd best engine. You have the best engine you can get in an ST162 chassis - a 3SGE. To clear up the confusion, we only got ST and SX Celicas here, with either 3SFE or 3SGE's respectively. Thats it, nothing else. No 2SE crap here! :p

i dont know that we ever got the gt4 st165 over our way? if we did, it was in very VERY small numbers!!

lots more st185's around, but they are still pretty rare to see i think!

    yeh
if they werent put here, then the turbo motors would be worth heaps cuz they would have had 2 be privately imported

Japan realistically isn't that far from you guys though....can't be THAT much to import one.... Hell why not just rent a boat and go up there yourself??? lol
