What parts to choose?

Discussion in 'Aftermarket Modifications' started by speed_freak86, Jun 29, 2008.

  1. hi guys just need a little help in choosing parts for my ride. I've already chosen to get an exedy heavy duty button clutch which i will be ordering next week when the pay check comes in as the old one is dying.
i need to replace the piston rings (anyone in Sydney have a hoist?)
the suspension, throttle body, manifold. Also going to change the air filter but I'm skeptical on pods because of the laws in Australia although i herd if you have a heat shield its fine. so either an apexi pod filter or a K&N panel filter. so really any help on picking out the right suspension for me would be appreciated. What do you guys reckon of the build.

Pod filters are legal if you cover them. I just fitted new suspension in mine, KYB shocks and super low king springs.

yeah Pod filters are ok by the men in blue so long as they're protected, and make sure they are because you do realise just wacking a POD in there will reduce your power, It might look cool (it doesn't but) but not great on performance if not done right.
With the original Panel you get cold air from behind the head light, with a POD you get all that Lovely Heated air that the 3S Engines love to create causing you to loose power in terms of Air volume in your mix. Unless you make up a custom inlet to make it a Cold Air intake the Best option In my opinion (and i realise it mightn't mean much) is to just splurge on the K&N Panel and Make you Lights Lazy eyed. that allows more air to flow into the Inlet by creating a small wind tunnel effect, it's cheap, it's easy and there's no messing around with the Men in Blue.

    Just my opinion

And why do you need to replace your throttle body and Manifold? Is there something wrong with them? Are they cracked?
Usually just a Good Clean will do wonders, only cost you for the three gaskets and some carby cleaner. personally i use Kero and Metho but i might just like the excuse to use the left over stuff for fire breathing.

My springs are the same colour as yours. It dropped my car alot more than i thought, and i am going to have to do something about my guards cause the wheels rub like crazy. Pics later, lol.

  6. the pannel filter was the easy choice as i found a place selling the ones i need for about $87

and with the manifold i would be buying genie tri/y extractors
with the suspention though i dont want to lower it at all too many pot holes and speed bumps. It would drive me insane.
anyone got any info though on replacing the piston rings?
and ant i come past Wollongong every now and again to get to nowra.

I have Genie extractors, sometimes they come up in ebay, should pick them up cheap on there. You can get normal height king springs as well. Well if you ever want to meet up one day let me know, i may have some parts you need.
