What do people say about your Celica?

I had a guy at the gas station not believe my blue celica was from 87 with almost 300k, and it still ran. I ended up starting it and showing him and he was in disbelief. Pretty funny.

 

"thats an old piece of shit";
-"Is that a 2.0???"
-I say "No,it's an 1.6"
-They say "ahhh...ok.How many hp??90??"
-I say "No,124hp,it's a 4age the same engine has the AE86 corolla"
-They say "Woooooowwww thats awesome,I love AE86's"
-I say "...."

"How much it weighs?900kg??"
I say "no,1180kg"
"Damn,its heavy"
I say "It came with AC,electric mirrors sunroof and windows,PS etc etc"
"That's cool,from what year is it?"
I say "87"
"No way :O"

"Is that a celica?"
"look at that car"
"Wooow pop-up headlights"
"Why dont you drift it???" .l.
"Its a corolla??"
"Its a supra??"
"Its an honda??"
"How much top speed??"
"Looks like a frog"


etc etc etc xD

 

heard another oldy the night night, "still got the celica?" and the disbelief that follows, noone thought it could last this long

my old man got an 87 porsche 944 a couple years ago, it looks great, and i can see a few similarities between it and my st162 when theyre side by side. it's got the pop up lights, sharp edges, big glass hatch, tail spoiler - made of rubber tho - etc. nice car but would be a lot of $$$ to maintain without diy.

 

(After pushing my Celica to the gas pump after letting it run out in the parking lot - to get rid of the last of old gas with additive in it - he hasn't even heard it run)

"Man, that's a nice car there. Those things don't use NO gas."

- "Thanks"

"Want to sell it?"

- "No sir"

"I'll give you $1500 for it" (I had $340 in it at the time)

(No reply - just smiling and trying to think of how to nicely say I don't want to sell it.)

"Ok, I'll give you $2000. I can't give you more than $2000."

- I bought it to keep. It's not even worth $2000 anyway man. (And yes, I am repenting from that statement now.)

"Yeah it is! Man, you SURE you don't want to sell it?!? My name is ____ and I run ____. Call me if you change your mind."


I got home and told my wife (to show her how other folks think the car is of value - not just me) and she asked, "Then how did you get home?"

Today I stooped at a red light and its a lowered vw golf already there,there two guys inside and all the time I was at the red light they were staring at the car...then it turned green and they still stopped waiting to see the celica moving,so I pushed a little so they can hear the sound of the 4age ops
Then near the beach I saw them again and I just received a thumbs up :mrgreen :mrgreen :mrgreen

My exe's kids thought it was slow (180k JDM speedo), so I fitted a 240k speedo and
gained an extra 60k in an hour or two.
Most potent upgrade I've ever done :cool

 

oh, forgot one!
when i was smog checking car one year, this mexican guy commented on my car. knew very little english, but it knew what he was saying. lol he asked what it was then looked around the car, then asked if i was selling it. that was before the gt4 front and all those bits too. so its a plus for the 4th gen community!

Lol. Ironically, the dude that offered me $800 was also Mexican... Don't know if his English was good or not since my dad was the one that talked to him.
