Hi all, I have done a lot of searching, and I cant seem to find a good source of this information. What are the largest calipers that will bolt directly on to the ST162 GTS Hubs and still fit under the GTS wheels? Also, what are the largest that bolt right up, but require larger inside diameter wheels? Thanks
So, the bolt spacing behind the hub will accommodate the 185 and the 205 caliper brackets without any issues?
at the front yes, but the rear calipers require minimum modification. Look here for st205 modification : http://www.turbocelica.nl/541vs550mm.htm
Excellent! I am needing to upgrade the front brakes. The rears right now are barely getting used. Over a 14 hour race we went through about half of our front pads and less than 10% of the rears. Additionally the rear pads bite really hard and can sometimes cause issues when diving into a corner. Does anybody have the specs on the fronts of the 185 and 205s? I would like to know the size of pad and rotor they work with as well as the inside wheel diameter required. Thanks!
Can anybody else confirm that the 205 rotors with the 205 calipers will fit on the 162 hubs without any spacers or anything?
No definitely not. 205 calipers require various spacers, grinding and machining of the rotors. Imho not a very neat upgrade and will set you back about 1k once you factor in buying decent rotors and pads etc. Series2 st18x is the easiest no fuss upgrade. Or get the small 4pot ceika kit.
I've got the series 2 5th-gen front calipers, are the 5th-gen rear calipers bigger than the 4th-gens as well?
I have ST185 front brakes (single pot) and they can be fitted without any modifications (caliper & disc). Disc size is 277mm, and you'll have to use 15" rims. ST205 fronts are quite rare to find, needs modification and 16" rims to fit, and expensive, especially to race it and have discs and pads replaced regularly.
