I went to the track to drag today (not in drag) :lachtot , and I drove my car there- 70-80mph- 116miles, beat the hell out of it (bad times, but still launched hard and burn outs), then drove home!

Well, the ironic thing is they had a swap meet there today, so I had my brother come up to help me sell stuff in his car, and buddy came in his MR2!

End of the day, we pack up and hit the road- about 40-50 miles into ride home my brother calls me from his car behind me. He is driving a Saturn Vue, and we are driving through twisty back roads in mountains. STEVE, all my lights came on the dash, now my dash lights are out, my headlights went out, oh shit my steering is gone!
While you do lose p/s when the engine stalls in most cars, the VUE has electric steering, so even at speed the steering is bad!

I said don't slow down or stop, we have to get to a straight away to stop somewhere. We finally go a few more miles, and as I am pulling into a parking lot for him to follow , he comes around the corner and it just dies, and rolls into the parking lot!

I assumed his alternator shit the bed. I opened the hood, looked down and found there was no more serp belt! Just gone! I checked the pulleys- all good! I told him, your lucky- battery $80-100, alt would have been $100-125, serp belt $15!!

I alot of tools with me, my jack a drop light rags, just needed the belt.
Well we were in East oshkosh MA, nothing open late on a Sunday! I called places in my town and State, found Auto Zone open until 8! (happened 6:30-7pm)
I had them put the part on hold and had my wife go pick it up! When there was nothing open near us, we called AAA. They towed it 62 miles back to my house and I just got done replacing his serp belt in my driveway w/ flood lights!

Ironic thing is- I beat the crap out my car all day long, and he's in my car w/ a flat bed following w/ his car!
He just drove there and back! :smilielol5 :smilielol5

Oh Wait! I just remembered, I did have a slight problem. On the way there we stopped for a bathroom break- damn Celica didn't want to start back up! I wasn't sure whether I still had the Toyota starting circuit in my car---- apparently I DO!!! Guess I gotta find that starter relay thread! :lachtot

One good thing about stick- just pop start it and worry about it later!(didn't happen rest of day!)

saturns are not great cars by nature. unless it's a first gen (which none of the vues are)

haha, saturn should've been called uranus :lol2
Maybe, maybe not. In my person experience with the GT-S, it seems that black connector on the starter wire is worn. You might be able just to simply replace that connector and be good.

    LOL!!

I'l check the connector, i haven't had a starter issue in 10yrs. It has been sitting for years, but was a new starter.

It's just a spade connector in a fancy plastic housing. You might have crimp the female parts so the spade connects better :fingersx

No prob! Thanks. I figured, worst case- I could just make my own starter circuit w/ an external relay. If I don't need to, even better.
