Anybody know where I can find weather seals for an 88 Celica GT Convertible? Mine are pretty worn out I'm over in the So Cal area Thanks
hmm. those were all custom made cars. believe it or not toyota never made a convertable. they were all contracted to a company out there. have you tried toyota?
No not yet I've tried other websites like partstrain, carpartswholesale, and jcwhitney but haven't found weather stripping Where would I go on the toyota website to find parts for my convertible?
I have a how-to if you'd like to look at it, but it has no Toyota/ASC Inc part # reference. I've heard a few people rigged something up, but haven't heard of anyone buying an actual part no. from the stealership. If you do find something please post a follow-up. -K
I went to 1sttoyotaparts but it doesn't have the weather seal for the convertible It showed me weather stripping for a sunroof, the back glass window, and trunk Any other suggestions :?:
I PM'ed you - if you didn't catch the link to the how-to manual it's here: viewtopic.php?f=55&t=1827 -K
Mafix, are you sure about that? I've got a Toyota sales brochure that lists the 'vert and all the specs.
absolutely sure. the 4th gens never came vert from toyota. they do sell them and have everything for them, but never made them. they are all chopped st celicas.
Nothing to do with this, just an interesting anecdote re-enforcing what Mafix says The Toyota 2000GT convertible used in the film "007 - You only live twice" was hurridley converted by Toyopet for Toyota. It was never intended that way but Sean Connery (6'4") was too tall for the std 2000GT interior. Only one was made and it didn't have any windows or soft top! A removable roof was never made either. I believe Tom Selleck had the same problem with his 308 in "Magnum PI" Were the ST182/202 verts also outsourced?
Found some good JC Witney links: General Weatherstripping link: http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/Brow ... rstripping STICK ON REPLACEMENT SPONGE RUBBER WEATHERSTRIPPING http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/Prod ... rstripping Specific ( best I can find) TOP HEADER SEAL WEATHERSTRIPPING FOR CONVERTIBLES http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/Prod ... rstripping ALL-RUBBER WINDOW CHANNELS (not sure which style) http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/Prod ... rstripping QUARTER WINDOW SEALS FOR CONVERTIBLES http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/Prod ... rstripping TRUNK WEATHERSTRIPS http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/Prod ... rstripping And For you Hatchback guys: COLORED HATCH SEALS http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/Prod ... rstripping  -K
Went to those links and guess what happened?... Didn't have them for my car :x I was really hoping that I'd find them cuz I always hear the wind coming in when I'm driving on the freeway and I wanna fix that problem Thanks for finding those links though I'm sure they'll come in handy for other people
I didn't expect to see 4th gen celica on there however, the material itself is universal, just grab some from a larger car and cut to fit. If you don't want to do that, contact that company conv top guys, maybe they have the item but is just not listed on the website. -K
Any suggestions on which car I should order from? Cuz I don't want to order one too small but at the same time, don't want to get one too big and waste it I'll prolly call up the company tomorrow when I get out of school Thanks for the info
I hear 'ya, better to have more than not enough - product def looks like what's on my car and I'm sure that ASC did all those conversions with product or similar so that disclaimer is BS. What's really annoying to me is the other weatherstripping products list the length and the header strip goes by make and no length :? I don't have to do my header strip yet, but I have to do the doors hence my research -K
Yeah, I mainly want to replace the weather stripping along the top Its breaking off already That's how bad it is
