all right guys, i know you all like your manual trannys but im going to be building a 5sge motor and want to mate it to an automatic(is there any part of an 88-93 auto tranny that is actually controlled by the computer? or is it all mechanical they just use different computers for the manual/auto. i.e. my 87 mustang uses and aod(non electronic) and has a computer for an auto but i can swap in a ecu that was in a manual without any driveability problems. the main reason i want to know is i have 2 3sge computers both 5spd one jdm one usdm and when i build my 5sge motor i want it mated to an automatic because it will be my daily driver. I dont want to have to find a 3sge automatic ecu
i cant find the bgb for the 4g auto, its greyed out the 90+ is there and it is controlled by the ecu(imbeded tranny controller)
i really have no clue. easy way to find out: is there a rather large electrical connector on the trans that has more than say 2 or 4 wires going to it? if yes: computer controlled if no: mechanically controlled.
hard way to tell as it is burried in my garage right now(anyone have a 4g bgb that could look it up?)
no differences between 4g and 5g auto's? or between ecus? the 5g has a power/economy switch but the 4g does not(at least my 4g) which leads me to believe the 4g auto is not electronically controlled, but i would hate to try and it be
4g's what ecu? as in no difference between an auto matic and manual ecu from the 4g? so i could use my 4g auto in my 5th g 5sge since i will be running a 4g 3sge head and wiring harness and all that stuff
