My son recently purchased an '89 GT-S hatch that has a used motor from Japan in it. Only differences I can see are no EGR system like on the US ones. How interchangeable are parts between the Japanese motor and the US motor i.e., starter, alternator, clutch, flywheel, etc? Thanks
All the normal external parts will interchange, biggest difference with the JDM engine is the flow of the Yamaha head and the JDM ECU that is required to give the full performance advantage of this engine. The USDM ECU works just fine, but will hold back this engines ability to produce max output, which is around 160 HP. racerb
