Upgrading ST165 brake pads.

Ok not really having much luck on this on AT.net so I figured I'd try here.

I am trying to upgraded my brake pads on my st165 to something that can withstand some abuse. I had ordered EBC redstuff pads for the front and rear that according to the website were supposed to fit my car, but the fronts arent right. They look like st185 pads.

So what I'm trying to get at is, does anybody know of a brake pad company that makes matching front and rear pads for the st165? I've tried searching everywhere and I cant find anything definitive.

Any help on this is greatly appreciated since my pads are almost metal to metal and I really don't have the money to put st185 brakes on it along with new wheels.

the series 1 jdm 89-91 st185 had the same brakes as the st165, the later series 2 92/93/grpA (and all ADM) st185's had larger single pot calipers with 278mm rotors which is prob what those pads are for.

also try twosrus.com i think they also sell st165 parts

I thought most suppliers had them stocked

You do have ST165 pads there - from a pre-face (JDM model 86-87)
It uses the same pads as the ST182 and facelift ST185

I'm using those red EBC pads and ST185 brakes and I'm not very happy with them, they are too hard for normal driving.

What you need to ask for is the late ST165/ early ST185 pads - as already stated both ST165 and ST185 have 2 types of brakes fitted.

Thanks for the input guys, completely forgot about checking twosrus. Went ahead and ordered the Porterfield r4s pads front and rear that they had listed.

I've had the Porterfeilds on for a couple months now with some ebay slotted rotors. These are a significant improvement over what i had, worn out bargain pads and rusty rotors. I dont have much experience with performance pads but i really like them. Its pretty easy to modulate the brakes with these pads. Now i just need to install my s.s. brake lines and really see how these feel.

I run Mintex and they work good on the street and much better on the track than stock. I literally cooked my stockers in one lap, did nothing else but swap to Mintex and next time at the track had no issues. Expensive but if you aren't upgrading your brake calipers an excellent choice.
