-ok so im basically ready for paint. to save on cost i've removed all the trim around the windows ect, ect. the trim was painted when the car was done last, so super crappy peeling paint. i want to strip and rattle can the trim so it looks decent. so, what color is the trim originally? flat? semi gloss? gloss?

-i did break 2 pieces removing it all, so worst case ill go to the yard and get all new pieces. the trim i have is questionable weather or not its saveable, or worth the effort.

-close up pics of original trim and mirrors would be super helpfull.

those trims should be semi glass and it's a good thing you removed them so you will be able to get some paint under there.

carbon fiber wrap??? maybe too much?

i used a black metallic on a few of my bitc, they look great! and better protection against it peeling off due to rust.

Carefull, primer tends to absorb moisture if not sealed by paint.

Jon, I've sanded and painted all these trims in the past and the rust just won't die.
I'm now thinking of powder coating everything after a good sandblast

And yea pre = matte, post = satin

Vinyl (carbon) will look good for a year or so and will rust underneath, once it
    starts peeling it'll fall apart
Any vinyl needs adhesion promoter and then heated to melting point if it is going
to have any chance on a car, esp tiny items like trims

-so the mirrors are also semi-gloss on the post. i think i may go this route. probably hit the yard this weekend maybe i can find some stuff that is still good and un-botched.

ok ive determined that only about 30% of what i got is worth saving. sanded and re-sprayed in semi and looks good. so then is the plate surround also supposed to match the trim? mine was sprayed to match the car and looks like hell.

-so mirrors, body trim, plate surround, window trim, should all be in semi?

-could somebody correct me if im wrong.

-oh and the bumper bit that lines up with the body trim?

-id like to go for exact oem, as i think that will look the best.

-car goes in on sat. ill take pics before and after, and maybe leave the camera so they can take some during shots. very exited, i want my celi back on the road.

the majority of the window trim is coated in plastic, not painted. the caps are painted. i just sprayed all of it on my car since the roof is black. (although it is time for a redo)

Yes mafix is wright those trim's are plastic coated you have to plastic prime those and yes those end's should all be the same color just like you said all in semi if I am not mistaken it was not the bumper that was wrong it was the spoiler that needed to up on the one side
