-ok so my speedo is waaaaay off. shows 37 @ 30 mph (verified by local signage). linkagae is good ect. speedo moves correctly and smoothly with no "chirping" or skippage. the best i can figure is either its a different tranny (s54 ?) or the diff has been swapped. there IS play in the diff. e.g. i can rock the wheels with the car up much more than i would think is acceptable. -again this would lead me to belive that either the diff or entire tranny has been swapped at some point. -there ARE numbers on the bell housing above the starter...51018094 these are stamped into the bell housing straight and i would say they "look" like a factory marking. as far as i know there are no numbers on the trannys normally. so maybe a newer trans? -tire size is 195/65-14 so that wouldnt account for the speedo being that far off. -ideas?
i think your speedo gear is f'ed up. the trans itself doesn't matter. that or your tires are sized incorrectly. the proper way to check is against GPS and in 5th gear.
