    Hey Friends...

Would 215 60 r14's fit on my stock '87 GTS? I'm having a hard time finding the stock size (205 60 r14) here locally in SoCal at a good price.
The 215's are only 10 silly millimeters more than the originals...Has anybody else run them? If so how were they? Send some pics and feedback.
(I don't like the 195 65 r14's that are currently on my stock alum rims.)

    Thanx, Vicdat

    Yeah they'll fit fine.

I'm going to be stuffing 225/50/16's on mine.

I've got a set of 205/60/14 Falkin 512s for sell on here cheap, they have maybe 100 miles on them. Never got to use them on the street, so only got driven onto and off the trailer before changing to race tires at track events. I'd probably let them go for about $100 plus shipping, less if shipping is too high!!

10 more mm width won't do any harm, but the overall height of the tire goes up 12 mm it should be okay though

    True that.

Also a carefull consideration if your standard suspension is not up to par :cheers

    Thanx Racerb and Spidey...
I'm a little leary of getting used tires from across the continent. Most review on the 512's say they handle well, but fall short when it comes to treadlife. At this point I'm leaning towards the stock 205 size either in Nexen CP641's or Nankang XR611's. Anyone out there have any history with those tires?

nexen cp641 is terrible in the wet. i have a set of 4 in 205 60 14 size and its just bad.

the xr611's don't seem to have great reviews on them...but i've never tried them!
i've had falken 512s before, they are great all around tire, but as you said, tread life could be better.
yokohama avid(best of these three)/kumho ecsta spt/sumo akina (loud tires but still good) are some of the other tires i've had that perform WAY better than the cp641, especially wet, those are some to consider as well.

It looks like I'll be getting the Nankangs this weekend in 205 60 r14's...thanx for your input everyone!m
PS The Burp car is still running cool as a cucumber. I'm putting about 500 miles a week on it again as a DD.
PPS I'm thinking about stuffing a 3SGE in a '75 Corolla station wagon at the shop were I hang out and do SR20 conversions into old 510's and 610's in Whittier...but I ramble...

    Just an update...
I ended up getting the Nankang xr611's in 205 60 r14. I've put close to a thousand miles on them already and of course I'm quite happy so far . We'll see after 10 or 15 thou. They handle pretty good considering suspension is stock, and look good; a little chunky and squat compared to the 195's eveyone else tried to sell me.
I got a great deal too at Discount Tire in Azusa, CA. $300.51 for all four installed including mount, balance, new valve stems, lifetime rotation and balance, road hazard and complementry wheel alignment check (mine was OK). PLUS four tickets to SoakCity (a local water park at Knotts Berry Farm).
I do need some rubber bushings in the rear however...is there any info on doing those on this website???
