    When was the tire manufactured?

You'll see a series of 3 or 4 numbers separated by an oval or oblong shaped depression on the sidewall.

The last three or four digits give the date the tire was made.
For all tires built after 1999, this will be a four-digit number with the first two digits giving the week number, and the last two giving the year.

Example: 2107 = tire was manufactured in the 21st week of 2007.
    -------------

For tires built before 2000, the date indicator will consist of three digits, the first two giving the week number and the last giving the last digit of the year.

Example: 218 = tire was amde 21st week of 1998.

Manufacturer's recommend discarding tires after 6 years, whether or not they look OK, b/c the rubber deteriorates and is considered unsafe, especially if you do a lot of highway/hi-speed driving.
